Been listening to this Nils Petter Molvaer - Khmer 2xCD promo (ECM) lately, and I can't put it down! I've seen a few sightings on radio playlists/charts on this here list, but no mention other than that. Is it even publicly released yet? ...or is it just us radio folk who've got it? I'm really impressed by all of it. Not a stinker on there! Anyone care to fill me in on other Nils Petter Molvaer projects, if any?? Andrew larsonaj@muohio.edu

wow... you have a double CD? I only see the single CD version available on BMG/ECM ($12.88 at Musicblvd, btw) what is on the second disc? is it worth tracking down the double CD version or is the first disc the one you can't put down? thanks for any info np: novisad - wilderness --------------------------------------------------------------------- Karaoke Kalk / Tom http://members.aol.com/volumunits/karaoke_kalk.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------

could you provide more of a description of what "Khmer" sounds like please? actually, i think it's been out for a while, 'cause i've seen it laying around at my favorite record shop and have always wondered if it was any good. i might be thinking of something else though. (looking at the instrumentation and i think a drum machine and/or sampler was listed?). ECM-astonished, Bt.

The apparently elusive 2nd disc is Khmer Remixes: 1. Song Of Snad (Single Edit) 2. Platonic Years (DJ Fjord Remix by The Herbaliser) 3. Tlon (Dance Mix by Mental Overdrive) 4. Song Of Sand II (Coastal Warning Mix by Rockers Hi-Fi) It's both discs that are great. I guess it's up to you if you think it's worth your trouble.

yeah, it's got a 1997 copyright, but the remix disc is copyright 98, so i'm assuming this is a reissue of sorts. ugh...i'm not too good at giving reviews but this equipment list may give you some hints as to its sound: trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, samples, treatments, talk box, dulcimer, drums, sound treatment. all of these are spread out amongst 7 people, btw. it's all very electronic at heart (now that I look at it, that above list doesn't really tell the whole story). very moody stuff... i've heard hints of black dog in there as well. i'm in a tremendous hurry or i'd try to explain a little more, but nonetheless... trust me. you'll dig it ;)
