The Low Res Amuck remixes are 4 great pounding detroit techno mixes by Juan Atkins. It's been a favorite record of mine for several years. The metroplex record is actually a re- release. The Amuck remixes were originally released on the Sublime-Japan label. Sublime also released the predecessor to the Amuck remix ep called the Low Res: Thorn ep. Regarding Plug Research #01, that is a bit of a collectors item. It's been long out of print and i believe there were only 100 or so copies made of it. The record is by R.E.A.L.M. and is called Wrench. R.E.A.L.M. is acually an early incarnation Plug Reserach heads Joe & Allen aka Mannequin Lung. The Wrench ep is four tracks of smooth moody electronica along the lines of early autechre, markant or as one. it is well worth having. But don't fret the loss of this PR gem too much because the Sublime-Japan label reissued this ep a few years ago and released another great R.E.A.L.M. ep called Cardioscar. All the Low Res and R.E.A.L.M. eps are well worth having if you can track them down. You can find out more info on those releases on the Sublime-Japan website at: http://www.musicmine.co.jp/label/sublime/backcatalog/index-j.html Or the Plug Research website at: http://www.commline.com/plugresearch/ Hope this helps! -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

these are the juan atkins mixes.. yes? i wasnt too into them and prefer the unmixed versions of danny's music. i wish i could provide more insight than that, but the only time i heard them was in a store.. where i decided id pass.

is this the realm 12"? anyway, all the PR stuff is worth it in my opinion.. and in fact, its the early PR stuff that helped me get into more beat oriented electronic stuff.. FWIW. chris (whos memory now officially is worthless).

i'll agree that the record wasn't in the usual moody cruchy electronica style of Low Res tracks but i thought Atkins did a good job of making them dancefloor friendly but still very interesting. for a better representation of the Low Res style check his new cd on Plug Research called Approximate Love Boat - Alien Interpretations of Earth Music or his new Crank cd on the Phthalo label called Wanton Phenomena.

Agreed. The early PR stuff was much more in the unique electronica style. The early REALM, Phthalocyanine, and two PR mini comps are priceless. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
