"Finale: Nobukazu Takemura for Issey Miyake Men" talkin about stuff people do for money... well, of course, I'd gladly take the gig if Mr. Miyake gave me a ring. This seems to be the second release by Takemura documenting his work for Miyake (is it for a runway show? or one of Miyake's gallery exhibitions?). Like the first, it's not bad, just way undercooked compared to Takemura's best work, and it's in that sense it seems like commercial work, cranked out to meet a deadline and failing to meet the artist's highest standards. Lots of standard samples of acoustic instruments (cello, electric piano, etc), and the usual little girl vocal stylings of Aki Tsuyuko. Unlike the first Miyake cd, the instrumental samples are often augmented by musique concrete sounds and comes a little closer to reminding me why I am so interested in this artist. but, gee, I sure wish he'd get around to putting out another full-fledged album of his really good stuff.... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I assume they were for the runway, namely because it says "Spring/Summer 2000" on the packaging and they don't appear to be playing the disc in his boutiques. Whether or not it's on par with Takemura's "regular" output, it's two legs and a torso up on the Eurothump landfill that typically accompanies such events. Tenuous IDM link #2: the store for Miyake's sportswear line (Final Home) took over Liquid Sky's clothing boutique space on Lafayette St when LSD pulled back to just doing t-shirt designs (which now co-habits the space). pleats, please -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
