Personally, I dislike listening to music before I buy it - in fact, if I hear
it too much, it will slow my acquisition of it, odd as that may seem. I'm sure
this is fairly rare, but I really enjoy *buying blind* - then again, I live
peaceably with the results. You'd be surprised how good my luck is - or perhaps
I have more of a "vested interest" in finding something I like about what I
buy. Just curious to see if anyone else has this disease. I'm always asking
people in the store NOT to play something for me. On the other hand, if it's
on, I WILL ask and usually buy. Perhaps I just like to "discover" things for
myself. I've found over the years that the most effective way to turn people on
to great things is merely to spin it without saying anything, letting them
*find* it for themselves.
