I can't stand it when people like Gil spout this crap. Why don't you listen to your fucking records before taking them home from the shop? Fuck man there's a million places to hear realaudio of all those releases you list. Do your homework, then you'll be ready for the real test, what to spend your money on! Rusty

Where exactly are these million places? I know some online stores sometimes have some samples (MDOS is very extensive) but other than that I haven't found any of these. Could you confide some sites... -Dan

there are samples from some v/vm releases up @ the v/vm site i have up... unfortunately, none from chart runners or the fatcat split 12"... so far, there's just the 1st and the xmas single, but i'll make sure to add some new audio asap for the remaining releases and try to get some up faster for new releases... btw - just got a copy of the obsessive eye w/7 with v/vm on it... for those who thought that chart runners was poo, i wouldn't suggest picking up the mag just for the 7" =) in regards to the mag, someone had suggested that it unreadable. at first, i couldn't help but agree... it got better after a bit of reading, but i didn't recall a jAwonio productions on vvmt0002 =) brap@sonic.net[icq: 12645306] http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ sfwd prod | noisesoundnoise chris g. 1547 boston court #7, santa rosa, ca 95405

I can't stand it when you fucking people can't fucking stop saying fuck, for fuck's sake! Frankly I blast thru IDM anymore without reading 3/4 of the posts, so I didn't read Gil's original post. I don't disagree with your premise, but aren't you being a little harsh? It is possible to 1) read glowing reviews of something, and then buy it and have it not flip your switch 2) Enjoy releases by an artist and then be sorely disappointed when they release something wack. In general I figure that something like 20% of what I buy ultimately will not trip my trigger, in which case I sell it back.

Ya,i too like to buy blind.I will ask friends about releases, but generally i go with what i've read, what label it's on,or if i know anyone of the names on the liner notes. Generally i am pretty pleased with my disc-overies(sic).Quite often the music does'nt grab me until the third or fourth listen, but quite often those are the ones i will go back to most often. my 2 cents... william

Personally, I dislike listening to music before I buy it - in fact, if I hear it too much, it will slow my acquisition of it, odd as that may seem. I'm sure this is fairly rare, but I really enjoy *buying blind* - then again, I live peaceably with the results. You'd be surprised how good my luck is - or perhaps I have more of a "vested interest" in finding something I like about what I buy. Just curious to see if anyone else has this disease. I'm always asking people in the store NOT to play something for me. On the other hand, if it's on, I WILL ask and usually buy. Perhaps I just like to "discover" things for myself. I've found over the years that the most effective way to turn people on to great things is merely to spin it without saying anything, letting them *find* it for themselves. jeff Rusty Householter wrote:

This is me, 100%... I may ask for a few reviews, but I dig buying blind... this is how I bought everything (back in high school i would buy obscured messed up sounding stuff that i'd never heard of... got me into bands like butthole surfers and gaye bykers on acid, which i still listen to today...) Its funny, because the 'buying blind' concept is 98% of what appeals to me about v/vm (pretty sure this thread branched from the 'v/vm sucks idm' thread)... i can never wait to see where the heck the next 12" (or 7") will go... i'm presently burning out on so much idm as where it goes ends up to be no surprise... a few nice tracks that could have been released with the last few nice tracks.... not much blind buying there when you know what you're going to get, know what i'm saying? Another reason why robert rich is so welcome to these ears... Picked up seven veils and fissures at the same time... This is the same artist??? hehehe... ok, not idm but a good example... brap@sonic.net[icq: 12645306] http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ sfwd prod | noisesoundnoise chris g. 1547 boston court #7, santa rosa, ca 95405
