Yeah, it takes a few listenings to get into it, I know Christopher Robin used to try and get me into it a few times before I actually started to dig it myself. Yeah, my parents even came down to check out the release party, and they convieniently decided they needed to go as Dimitri went on. 8) -Daniel daniel@peachfuzz.net ICQ# 16654223 ============================================================================== Listen to "Space Disco for Fish Tacos", KUCI 88.9fm Wednesdays 8-10pm Space Disco For Fish Tacos web site: http://www.kuci.org/~dbremmer *New* Peach Web Site: http://www.peachfuzz.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Cheerleading is my sport, Jesus is my life." I know this is getting carried out, but this was really funny! Daniel's mom came up to me to say good bye and was like, "I think I've had enough". Laughed my ass off.. but you have to give respect to someone's mom who's willing to support their kid and show up to such a performance (rumour has it that phthalocyanine's mom actually comes to his gigs:) Supportive parents in IDM. Who says we don't have family values? chris.

Ha ha :-) I *am* one such parent (I hope) and am smarting at the fact that my offspring devour Jethro Tull (know the full lyrics to Thick as a Brick at age 9) and ELP. ArrrrrrgK! That's after I go to all the trouble of soliciting IDM help for an ambient sleep-tape! Oh, and they also think the Village People are pretty hot, after seeing a Disco Party special on VH1. There is NO hope, people ... I * np: Nonplace Urban Field

Its that, ' hey I'm old enough to listen to whatever I damn well want ' thing =) My girlfriend's kid used to love skinny puppy and that lot, and got into alot of afx stuff... now she'll get into some dance techno material, but she'd be happier listening to Leanne Rimes, Elvis or so other thing that we'll debate back and forth about ('no really, david toop and v/vm really kick elvis' ass... elvis is dead'... 'no, vvm suck, chris, and elvis is the king... don't make me eye to eye you!' hehehehe... if you argue with this kid enough she freak out and jump on you and try and touch her eye with your eye... I've seen it happen many times and its damn freaky =) anyways... sorry for the somewhat pointless post brap@sonic.net[icq: 12645306] http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ sfwd prod | noisesoundnoise chris g. 1547 boston court #7, santa rosa, ca 95405

I've never met a kid (meaning between 4 and 12) that didn't like Bootsy Collins. Your kids obviously could use some funk. :) When I used to work at Corporate Records, err, Tower Records I listened to a lot of Soukouss (I worked in the jazz/world section) and little kids would always dance around and sing along to it while their parents were picking out the latest in "jazz product" music (like Hiroshima and Kenny G and other equally disgusting stuff.) It was pretty cool to watch those kids though (and listen to them try to sing along with these african guys singing in whatever language they use for songs in Zaire) Nana Vasconcelos (brazillian precussion weirdo, later fusion dork, now back to weirdo) was also a big hit with the short crowd. You're in Africa, so I doubt you'll have any trouble getting Kanda Bongo Man (or whoever) records (the one remixed by autechre is pretty cool, by the way.) .Bil. IAMaCOPIER

Ah, ALL of us could use some funk :-) I'm obviously not trying to stop them from enjoying anything I consider less than perfect - they are free to make up their own minds. Ah, whatever. I certainly never liked music my parents found pleasant (and still don't)! The very fact that they're listening to the stuff I mentioned earlier implies that it's available in our house .... ah, the skeletons ... I * np : Indigo (one) : Tribal chants and rhythms

i hope u meant that as a joke, becuz not only is nana a good friend of mine, but he is one of the most talented percussionists around...how many people do you know that can tastefully and rythmically use every inch of their body to make music? how many people do u know that master (and i mean master, not some amateurish usage for the hell of it) over 100 percussion instruments? how many people do you know that are so in demand that they can say no to people like peter gabriel, the ex-dead, and sting? and just becuz he made a few records with metheny, does'nt make him a dork; check out his duets with egberto gismonti...and then tell me he's a dork... tom w np: nana - zumbi _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
