i checked out the new reviews at http://www.sonik.demon.nl/forcefield/forcefield.html which were mentioned earlier today on this list, and it sounds to me like the realaudio clip of aemic's "ADSL" is at the wrong speed. at least, i like it much better at 45 rpm. i just thought i'd let interested parties know that the record sounds better than forcefield's 33rpm .ram clip indicates. btw, thanks, forcefield, for the effort... matt np: bola - aguilla

i hate to dive into the record speed conflict which we seem to usually drop into with MaS releases, but I have to side with delsin/ forcefield and vote for 33. at 45, you miss much of the sonic and harmonic subtlety, and the percussion degrades from tension-soaked vunderwerks to mediocre drillnbass (IMHO). one puzzler is that the posted tracktime of 4:45.567 correlates more closely to a 45rpm speed than a 33rpm. it's a beautiful track at 33 and i just can't find the magic at 45. no, all MaS (except those that were obviously recorded to be played at 33rpm) should be played at 45. in my house at least, the "excepts" = Andre Estermann EP Aemic Electric Sheep. I enjoy those 3 much more at 33, the rest sound lovely at 45. now how do you pronounce autechre again???? ;-> who knows...... np: black dog: pillars & mirrors pece, (speeded up to 45) -- Jeff Davis pHlow@earthlink.net P:518.475.5042 F:518.475.5657 ICQ:17028671 pHlow.linx: home.earthlink.net/~phlow/ Bochum Welt: www.bochumwelt.com Rotator Locator: hyperreal.org/music/rotator/

No way! Aemic and Electric Sheep, both 45 rpm. Now for something more interesting: Can someone tell me the 'real' rpm of MASK400? I believe, side A (actually side 'c' as marked on the runout) is 45 rpm, and side 'b' ('d' on the runout) at 33 rpm. Plus, a track listing also. What I think it is: A1. 1. ld runners 2. gescom 3. push button objects B1. 1. while 2. post 3. sonic beat alliance Thanks, Ru$ty
