yeah - i can see it now: ya just got the record in the mail, and your and your buddies are all excited, debating over whose groove you're going to listen to first. you agree on :zoviet*france:. so you skip to groove #267. right! as if that's a possibility. * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com #### a fortune cookie i ate 08/06/98 told me: "a girlfriend is a wine bottle. a wife is a bottle of wine."

i can imagine a situation where someone would like to hear the zoviet track without having to count over a hundred little hairlines in black vinyl without losing their place. eric

I personally love lock grooves. You can do so much with them. Whenever i find a lock groove release, like the two lock groove albums on serotonin, i always buy two copies. And the more locks the better because the artist who does the lock really doesn't matter. I usually just quickly drop the needle from one lock to the next to find one that works for me. I'll admit that it's sometimes difficult to locate one you're heard before but in the searching process i always seem to find a newer better lock groove. My favorite lock groove releases: . Loops - lock groove comp 12" (Serotonin) . Loops Again - lock groove comp 12" (Serotonin) . Noto: Endless Loops Editions 2x10" (Rastermusic) . Jeff Mills: Cycle 30 12" (Axis) . Christopher Just: Brand New 12" (Petra) . All the Chain Reaction label lock grooves. . All the Interdimensional Transmissions label lock grooves. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

oh, yes, i agree with you completely. it's just rather pointless to list all of these big names, each having contributed a lock groove, like you're supposed to listen to groove # 403 for the noto loop.

henh - i just ordered this. :) what about the old fad gadget 12"s on mute? :) they've got some good hidden grooves. and that mr bungle record with a hidden groove that you have to play inside out? * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com #### a fortune cookie i ate 08/06/98 told me: "a girlfriend is a wine bottle. a wife is a bottle of wine."

i guess you're right. it wouldn't bother me if there weren't any artists names on there at all. it's the sound of the lock that counts not the artist.

a good release of 100+ more experimental locks mostly of the noises you've heard on previous noto releases.

yeah - i guess that's my big complaint. i just hope they put the artists on it, and not the tracklisting. but it's all about the groove - literally. actually, this going to sound really silly, but i just took a look at a few of my records, one from a company that uses good vinyl/presses well (planet e), and one from a company that uses bad/presses badly (warp). and it seems that, if pressed properly, with nice fat grooves, at 250 per side, it wouldn't be too tough to find a particular groove if you had to.

pretty much what i'd expect. good. :)
