well, brian (audio9 - u still out there?) of idm-r maintenance is an ops at #idm on dalnet, but it's almost always dead quiet - unless i'm there at the wrong times(?). your other options being #music, #rave, or #techno, which aren't much of an improvement. i'd recommend #music at around midnight EST as your best bet, but don't expect to be drawn right in. the occasional Sun Ra and "Was that Carla Bley on Letterman last night?" discussions only pop up once in a while, the rest is crap.

Vrave was the place to be until they shut it down for general obstreperousness ... there is sometimes a chat at spacebar.com... and there's telnet hardcorps.org 6669 where I'm at quite a bit during the day, but it's not really an idm hangout. If you're on EFNet, try #aphextwin. There're usually some people in there.. some of them even talk from time to time. And if you're exceptionally lucky, you might catch Wells on there.

For quite some time there was the channel #idm on undernet (http://www.undernet.org) I think the channel may have been taken apart by now but there is a very large IDM following on the #industrial channel despite its name. . . Jeff ([Sn] on irc usually)
