I'll assume you mean Varick. It's west village area. Once again: I like to shop at the following, Kim's on St. Marks tween 3rd and 2nd Ave. Strange on 9th St tween 1st and Ave. A. Throb on 14th St tween 3rd and 2nd Ave. I exclusively buy CD's but all carry vinyl also. Also in related interest some friends of mine have put together a pretty decent Techno Night on tuesdays in NYC at: 2i's on 14th tween 7th and 8th Ave. $3 cover. It's a nice place and they've been working on getting some good DJ's for this night. A pretty small dance floor but tends to be more loungey.

Last time I went over to the States, I hardly got any records in New York but got flippin looooooads in Vermont and Mass! I was havin to box em up and send em off from the Post office almost every day, my aunt works at Amherst Uni, and the area around there is heavin with cool record shops but don't think all the students there were interested in the stuff I wanted so it was all there just waitin for me! :) ohhhhhh and all the charity shops there too, ohhh man, twas quite an orgasmic experience! There's this one shop in Vermont, where it has this whole massive room full of vintage ski/snowboardie clothes, and nothing more than a few dollars! Aless

In NYC there's no one street like Berwick St in London with a ton of record shops on it. They are all located in the same sorta general neighborhood though. Check Strange and Breakbeat Science on E 9th Street; Throb on E 14th St; Temple on Lafayette (under Liquid Sky shop); Etherea on Ave A; and most importantly OTHER Music on E. 4th St across from the Tower Records. Lots of cool noise/experimental stuff...

Their tel #: 212.533.2328...They were open on Tuesday, so I'm assuming they still are today.
