I've got this really excellent electro 12" by people calling themselves Jackal and Hyde (pulled out for me while i was in ambient soho by ed-dmx ). Possibly connected with Dynamix in some way? The singles called "Beyond/Get Down To my Technique". Really classy electro, kind of a must-have i reckon. Anyway, it's on a label called Hal i think, well, the catalogue no. is hal-008. Anyone know anything more about this label (Lance maybe?:) Anyone have a discography? - Ben -- Ben Coffer http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

Yay, it's my turn to shine! Jackal and Hyde is one of the members of Dynamix II with a friend. Hallucination is the name of the label. It's run by Rabbit in the Moon. They're not very IDM, so I'm sure plenty of people are rolling their eyes right about now... but IMO, they are one of the greatest techno acts ever. If they ever play live near you, go see them. (They're playing here next Saturday.) I have a discography (at least partial) around here somewhere, so lemme dig it up and I'll post it to the list. It's one of the labels that is going to end up on my label worship page. See also http://www.hallucination.com

Dr. Giggles played that B-side last night, it jams.. bleepy miami-bass-techno pretty much like what Dynamix was doing on their later lps on the fast instrumental trax. "Get Down.." is so catchy and fun and the production of this record is just, uh, perfected. It was nice to hear on a big sound system (though not a terrific one). I'm just glad my set didn't immediately follow him scratching over this track...whew. I think that that Scott from Dynamix II is 1/2 of Jackal and Hyde. I agree that they are great, but I mean really, they've been pulling around the same live show for like 5 years now...PUT OUT SOME NEW MATERIAL ALREADY! sayeth I...Doing like a million remixes for Sarah McLachlan and White Zombie <shudder> pays the bills, but doesn't really promote a musical manifesto, if you catch my drift.

Oh, I agree fully that doing the remixes for cash is getting a bit tedious and that they really do need to concentrate more on original material, but things are looking up on that front lately - what with the promo single for "Deeper"/"Dusk" (clear purple vinyl) last year and "FLOORida" 2x12" coming out soon. Also, you have to admit some of the remixes they've done are genius. They can polish turds (Keoki, anyone?) - and the version of "Out of Body Experience" that's about 15 minutes long is amazing. I realized that have that discog... it's somewhere out on the web, I'll try looking for it again, but I may have to have a friend at work mail it to me.

I heard a tape of some stuff they were working on a while ago, and it was pretty good...Definitely more along the lines of epic Sasha-y kinda stuff, but well-produced and all. But, they really need to put out some more original grooves, so they can avoid that mentality that's gotten those Hardkiss guys a bad rep...
