There was a ? about getting old skool Hip Hop and electro online... I *highly* recommend www.sandboxautomatic.com Maybe there's a . btw box and auto, try it out. Anyways, they're a *great* online Hip Hop source and when they can get old skool, they do. Super nice guys there and a cool site to boot. Merzbow: I've heard enough rumors from UK friends about a Merzbow single with a *groove* (!!!???) Basically it's supposed to be a stock Merzbow noise explosion with an underlying movement which some say is his first *dance track* ? I'm sure it ain't *dance* but I'm intrigued. any news out there? There are a few Merzbow tracks with more or less of a rhythm. For example, the first track on _Music for Bondage Performance_, much of _Music for Bondage Performance 2_, a track on a noise comp from Charnel House (the title of which I forget), a handful of 7" sides incl. a couple on _Metalvelodrome_ disc 2. Some of _Pulse Demon_ does have some sense of pulse. Finally, the first track on a new release, _New Takagebara_ (something like that anyway) has some rhythm. --Mark __ <http://www.xnet.com/~mkolmar/BurningRome> <MPEG & RA audio clips> Imminent: SENSELESS CD on Mindfield Records MindCD03 Cathartium 14 "The electricity is no better off than on."

Merzbow trainspotters might want to keep an eye out for their contribution to the _Trax 0983_ compilation LP, a project from ~ '83/'84 which featured various noise artists doing national anthems, real and imagined. Their track (Akita & H. Kawagishi) essentially sounds like a New Order/Factory tribute. Dunno what was going through their minds at the time (2/83- by contrast, _Material Action 2 NAM_ circa '82 is the typical early Merzbow junk loops), but it's certainly an unusual (and quite danceable) sidebar. Comp also features P16.D4, DDAA, Renaldo and the Loaf, Naif Orchestra, etc... "the usual suspects." I guess you know if you need it. -rob np: Soluble Fish- _Sound Cues_ (excellent album)

Thanks, I'm familiar with Masami's work from the start. What I'm trying to verify is ann actual, real "dance" track with a real orthodox structure of a "track". Supposedley it's new and vinyl only and from the UK. He's always had a certain pulse but this is supposed to be way more conventional. P At 3:33 PM 8/13/98 -0500, Mark Kolmar wrote:
