I thought the AE real audio set was very good. This excellent set of experimental beats leads me to a a fruitless suggestion. Since people in Canada seem to dislike Autechre's live shows so much, why don't they come to the U.S. proper? Is the perceived audience bigger there or is it simply the proximity to the U.K.? Also, it would be nice if AE could shuffle into situation like Paradinas did with Bjork. Perplexed, R.P.

Well two years ago AE came to cleveland for a live show and only 60 people (including myself) showed up. Granted the promoter was a moron but it might be that turnouts like that one might be what makes Autechre reluctant to do a legit tour of the US? -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Hey, I loved the show in Toronto. So did my girlfriend. And so, I assume, did all the people who were on the floor dancing at the Opera House. Everyone I know who's been to an Ae show absolutely loved it. I bet there's a whole lot of lurkers who went, dug it, and haven't said anything. Just because six or seven people didn't like it for whatever reason doesn't mean Canadians don't like Autechre. Umm,, proximity to the UK? Huh? Um,, U.S. proper? afraid of americana (groan), jeremy[x]axon http://come.to/rewind.html breeyn[e]mccarney updated monthly starting 08/98 broccoli[fat]cat ===================================== "Reality is that which, when you stop beleiving in it, doesn't go away." - Philip K. Because the Canadian dollard sucks big time and why go to the States when you don't have to ... I don't think we dislike them that much, there was maybe only a small handfull of people that did not really liked Ae show, most of them were no real fan to begin with, and as soon as there is a live Techno show ( with live "playing") people get exited and expect it to be more danceable and more "fun". I know that audiences in Montreal were really good the first time Ae came in Montreal, Ae even composed a song with the name Montreal ( on Amber ), because they felt that there was something really special in the city compared to what they've seen in other cities around north America; maybe it has changed ... I think that Ae changed so much in the last few years that many early fan ( as I was ) did not continue buying and following all of the latest releases and shows. I went to the show knowing that it would be something different, and I was not that all surprised of the crowd response to either David Kristian and Ae. They were really more confused when Derek Carter came after Ae.
