A friend of mine picked up this Stereolab remix cd at Waterloo in Austin and I wanted to see if anyone had a review or some information on it. Supposedly, Stereolab sends off the track to one remixer, who then sends it to another, and so on, until Stereolab gets it back and does the final mix down. The 2 remixers i remembered were Mike P of U-Ziq and T-Power. Also, I saw this album "Owl" by Low and was wondering if there were any reviews on this one as well. Neotropic had a heavy presence on the tracklisting. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. The 2 remixers i remembered were Mike P of U-Ziq and T-Power. It's sounds like your friend picked up the compilation _Chinese Whispers_ on Sprawl. Here's the info: "Unlike other remix albums, Chinese Whispers is a hermetically sealed cyclical recording remix project, but with no original track to begin with. All the artists participating had no idea who they were remixing. All they were aware of was who was involved, who these anonymous audio snippets might be from, not hearing the track they were remixing either. Stereolab provided the original unconnected miscellaneous samples (i.e. not from an existing track) to start the ball rolling, and nine remixes later were given the final samples from the last artist's track (in this case T Power), to create their final track." -- Douglas Benford track listing: 1 / Sons Of Silence - Agent XX Mix 2 / Ultramarine Mix 3 / Mike Paradinas - Unbutton My Coat Mix 4 / Freeform - Chiney Biskers Mix 5 / Slang Mix 6 / Bedouin Ascent Mix 7 / Si Begg - Kojak Mix 8 / Subtropic - Tanje Mix 9 / T Power - A Hamster Is Not Just For Life Mix 10 / Stereolab Mix __________________________________________ E r i c F r a n s :: efrans@earthlink.net [cellular] http://home.earthlink.net/~efrans [so-cal idm] http://home.earthlink.net/~efrans/scidm [si-{cut}.db] http://home.earthlink.net/~efrans/benford on: Markant 09
