Well, my name's on the full colour glossy flier and I'm playing at a big gig / party / performance art / installation rave tomorrow night. Only hiccup : my slot is from 3:30-5 *am* and I've never played that time before (the latest I did was a hard techno set from 2-4am). What I'm wondering is whether people will still be up for dancing or whether it's time to mellow things down a little? It's in a dodgy area, so I want to avoid carting along crates of unnecessary music and am planning to pack my box now - although my mind goes blank doing this! I usually don't pre-pan, but 'feel' the vibe and play accordingly. The DJ before me goes on at 2am and plays and hour-and-a-half's worth of electro... what advice? Um, the drugs of choice are most likely to be weed and e (well, it's important to know these things, isn't it?) Excited but becoming wound up with neurosis. Congratulations! Good to see people other than epic trance DJs getting booked... :)

3:30-5? I'd say start out somewhat hard/fast and bring it down throughout your set... Or else you could just fuck it and play whatever you want... Chances are there will still be people there dancing until the break of day. I remember one time I got offered a 5->whenever slot for a hardcore/breakcore live PA... I think it was some sort of inside joke with promoters or something. :P -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@cyrus.net http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly [CELL|(888)522.3830] | [CELL|(701)729.1631] | [HOME|(651)748.8676] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
