Perhaps someone can point me to the proper place to discuss these guys? I just got the new album, Black Market Gardening, and while I find it very spotty, I realy, really dig the horn/guitar/drum groove that comes in at 5:29 on track 6, "Wigs, Bifocals, and Nurishment [sic]." Does anyone know what that is from--I'm assuming it's a sample. If not a sample, where can I get more music like that? On now: Neotropic - 15 Levels of Magnification

After hearing a RealAudio of "Out Of Space", I rushed out to buy Fila Brazillia's "Maim That Tune", and I love it. There seem to be lots of FB titles at the store, so which one(s) should I buy next? ps I remember this being discussed a while ago, but I can't get at the archives. -- Emanuel Borsboom : Victoria, B.C., Canada http://zerius.com/manny/ : "Pop goes your culture..."

Oops. No, I didn't buy a FB lp because of a Prodigy track. I meant "At Home in Space", not "Out Of Space". -- Emanuel Borsboom : Victoria, B.C., Canada http://zerius.com/manny/ : "Pop goes your culture..."

I guess you should definitely pick up 'Old Codes New Chaos' next. Its also quite nice and has one of FB's wickest tune, 'The Sheriff'. Also check out 'How About Some Ether' by the Solid Doctor. Its not FB, but its one part of them, and with two discs, one side with trip hoppy jazz stuff and the other more housey, idmish, techno, how could you go wrong :) AtL-5

I just picked up Fila Brazillia's "Luck Be A weirdo Tonight" yesterday and I think it's pretty amazing. Like nothing else I've heard really, and I've heard a lot of music. The only thing I have to say about it is that it just keeps me grinning continuously from start to finish. I'm so happy : ) -- B R E N D E N

i'd go with "luck be a weirdo...". excellent integration of "live" percussion and the ususal quality jamming. you might also like the latest baby mammoth, also on pork, "just another day at the orifice". happy listening mj www.urbansounds.com

Yes, definitely. Mess is really great. Also, to me is really great new Bullitnuts album, called 'Nut Roast' ...I'm really addicted to this one, can't stop playing it... Did anyone hear new Baby Mammoth ? Any thoughts ? bye rob np: bounce your body to the box - reese & santonio

The new Bullitnuts is actually titled 'A Different Ballgame', and it came out a few weeks ago. 'Nut Roast' was out about a year ago, I think. 'A Different Ballgame' is even better than Nut Roast, with more complex rhythms, more melody, and is more uptempo. I'd say it sounds more like Fila Brazillia than their last two. The new Baby Mammoth, Another Day at the Orifice, is their best since 10,000 years beneath the street. (IMO) They've finally ceased with the limpwristed drum and bass noodlings and returned to the lush jazzy/hiphop rhythms of yore. However, as good as their latest is, it's not great. A really wonderful discovery by Pork is Akotcha. Their first lp from last year is excellent; minimal hiphop and loungey atmospheres, like DJ Krush with a bit of Uriel or Visit Venus thrown in. i would go for "old codes, new chaos." it's a housier record and contains some of the best material they've ever done: the sheriff, brazilification and many others. mess is very good but inconsistent compared the track-after-banging-track-ness of old codes. there's also some neat samples from taxi driver in there. rob
