Le Car - "Automatic" (Sabotage / Craft) This is the first Le Car record I've bought, and it was well worth the $10, for quantity, and, more importantly, quality electro. If cars can be a fetish, Le Car has one really bad. The sides are divided into Program A and B, broken up by little futuristic interludes, titled _____ Auto Attendant. "Aluminum Rectangles", the first track on the first side is *booming* nu-school electro, just busting out of your speaker. Reminded me of I-F's "Space Invaders. . ." but maybe because of it's placement in Ferenc's set (which anyone with even the tiniest bit of curiosity of electro should check out.) Simple synth melodies run throughout the track, and it builds into a huge electro track. I'm surprised no ones mentioned it, really. . The next full track has an arpeggiating sound, for lack of a more technical description, like a rubber band, and 3-key synth melody comes into the picture. A big electro snare starts. This track is a little repetitive, but still damn good. Silent Auto Attendant has a Kraftwerk-like digital melody, with what sounds like an effected church bell, and "Attention, Attention" being repeated. #5 on Program A is Warm Humans, a funkier, old-school styled electro jam, sounding like it could have been the background from a big hit out of the 80's. 20/20, the first cut from Program B, is some speedy, jumpy electro, with nu- school synth lines. After another Auto Attendant, 24 Hours comes through, with a much slower beat. If you haven't realized it yet, this makes it apparent that Le Car isn't into one complex melody, but several simpler ones, and it works. There's an alternating mood of sadness, and darkness, with a lighter feel, but not quite happy. Electro for rainy days, maybe. Beau Ideal starts with an intro that sounds like it should have come from a tech-step single, minus the 2-step. Dark, slow electro from the depths of outer space makes this one up. Final Auto Attendant closes this fine 12" off with the sounds of an intergalactic war, or at least one you used play on your Atari. Anyone have a Le Car discog, or reviews of more Le Car stuff? .jeff / chris. .do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own . you may both be wrong .

They played live at the "Love From Beyond" part and definitely rocked the house. Their nerdy new-waver garb was hilarious too. They most definitely get a lot out of those old Roland Computer-Rhythm boxes. Between Le Car, Ectomorph, I/F, Aux 88, and Keith Tucker, there are enough truly great new-school electro tracks out there that a DJ could specialize. In fact, I've done just that a few times. The great thing about Electro DJ'ing is that it's the link between Hip Hop and Techno. You can throw down Electro Techno, and mix into Booty Bass records pitched up a bit. Nothing gets a crowd going like a little porn.
