Dear Ae fans, Why is this import ban so important to you? I mean, sure artwork, sound quality, that annoying Nothing logo on the back etc... but, will these little things really matter in 10 years? 5 years? If you're going to kick yourself in the ass for not owning the original import of that one Autechre album.... get a life. There's more to life than your record collection. Speaking on Nothings "sorry attempt" at getting this kind of music to the people, hey, at least their doing it. And sure, it's not comming out the day the original import is comming out, but at least it's being released here, at domestic prices, and hopefully these releases will perpetuate the release of other like minded musics in America. gnaw on this biatches luke hypocrite section: of course, I still would like to get my hands on an original import just to be thorough...

perhaps, but it doesn't have any place on this list... ;) i've abstained from this topic as long as i could. i guess in the long run none of this matters, since the import appears to be readily available, but on a personal level, i take a great interest in the continuum of an artist's work, as in where they've been, where they are now, and where they appear to be headed. often this requires acquiring albums as soon as they are released, particularly in light of the current ease of producing and releasing the stuff we listen to. if i've got to wait a year or more to hear something, the chances are that i won't be able to listen to it in the same way. i'm not necessarily saying that things need to be listened to in order, but it's a little more satisying to me that way - especially when i can pick out bits that an artist incorporates from earlier works or outside sources. i would like to think that an artist's music can be appreciated beyond the sum of their albums, particularly when the group is as competent as autechre. and as for import prices, i love this stuff too much to care. yours, mj
