Try out Mr. Bungle's first album, it's self titled and has a picture of a weird clown on it. It's not by any stretch of the imagination technoish, but it's pretty complex and ..uh, intelligent. That is, if your definition of intelligent includes needing to be listened to in it's entirety 3 or 4 times to appreciate the genius. Because it does. (the album, i mean) And if you like that, buy the second album, Disco Volante.. without a doubt one of my all time fav's of any genre, ever.. any other bungle fans here? noah

yeah, i'm a huge bungle fan. The first album is some kinda weird blend between carnival music with dashings of funk, metal, hip hop and ska, produced by john zorn, over odd samples and reaaallly wacked out vocal content. The humor is dirty and dark. Like on 'girls of porn' where patton breaks into the rhymes ala the classic Sugar Hill Gang v. Furious 5 track 'Showdown', except instead of saying stuff like 'we got -uh- grandmaster dj flash', he says things like 'we got gushing gonads and tingling tushes'... And 'disco volante' is just amazing. Dark, Dark, Dark and evil, yet with a twist of black humor, too. Really confusing funk / jazz / noise / dark ambient and weird vocals in foreign languages. Defying all catagorization.. It takes a while to get into at first, but it'll grow on you. Also worth mentioning is the Secret Chiefs3, which is the other three bungle guys minus patton. They have two cds out on Amarillo, 'First grand constitution and bylaws' and 'second grand...', respectivly. The later just came out and i've yet to hear it. The former is on an arabian sort of tip and though it lacks the charisma of Patton, it's still a pretty good release, and worth checking out if you're a bungle fan. as for faith no more, i've never really been able to get into any of their stuff, at least what i've heard of it. sorry for the lack of idm content. back to topic now- was anyone else a little dissapointed with the new potuznik CD on mego? i mean it is a very solid minimal(sortof, not really in the basic channel way) techno release on its own, but it's just not _mego_ enough for me, it lacks that sort of wacky mego clicky noisey shit that we know and love oh well... maybe it'll grow on me np-potuznik: amore molore [...autobahn] (Mego) later/mlt/

Yup! Bungle are geniuses, IMO. Both full-lengths are brilliant, Disco Volante especially. I remember playing that record for nearly 2 months straight when it came out.
