How does everyone like the new Tom J. output? It's taken a few listens (then again all Rephlex does I think), but I like. Quite a bit different than Sqaurepusher stuff. Sound very much like old AFX, especially circa the 'Classics' stuff. Tons of 303, 808, fast tempos, haunting melodies, plent of feedback and distortion. This record is pretty much a raw acid house record. Plus odd bits and noises. Oh yeah can't forget the humor/inside joke stuff too (ie track 4 made me chuckle a bit with the mention of snare rolls being really fucking exciting) I wonder if this storm of an album is Tom J's grandiose exit from sampledom (wasn't is rumored that he will be using more live instruments for the next SP record?)
