Hey y'all The above has become available on SSR, so it should now be available to anyone with a half-decent shop nearby instead of only those who can order stuff from Japan. I also saw a copy of this at the store. It seems to be a collection of remixes of a Japanese group whose name I can't recall... something along the lines of never mind the distortion. Remixes by Plaid, Autechre, Carl Craig, and others. Came out a few years back. Very recommended IMHO. All mixes are ace. Highlights for me include the Carl Craig, Global Communication and Ae mixes. A nice disc, along the same lines as the Never Mind the Distortion disc, if you liked that you'll like this, Softballet forms has more of a dance groove to it (because it doesn't have any Disjecta type stuff on it). Oh yeah the Black Dog track is dope too. They're all good! Get it! If I remember right, its also not the easiest thing to come by either. I could be wrong though. peace Nate On Tue, 30 Jun 1998, Jon Logan wrote:

Oh yes. the Soft Ballet remix cd called forms. A very good release IMHO. I remember ordering this one from Japan two or three years ago. I don't have it with me at the moment but i remember the best mixes being the autechre and carl craig mixes. That looped "no one lives on mars" sample in the craig mix is awesome. yes.. definitely an awesome release :) does anyone have the 12" of it with the Aphex Twin mix they'd like to get rid of? maybe others think that the same as Lance up there (all those best mixes being on the other 12", one I've got already ;) anyway, if anyone has a copy to trade or so i'll take it :) __ __\ \ / /_\ \ 1cQ<->uIN \_____/ 1.3777993 "..in whatever you do, if you can't break new ground, what's the point?" - James Cameron

Agreed but people reading this in the US should be able to get it for ~domestic price; SSR has very good distribution (and has been about the most underrated IDM label on the planet for the past five years or so). You're thinking of Twist and Turn, which also has remixes from Orbital and HIA among others. Not as strong as the Forms remixes. I have this disc. The group is 'Soft Ballet' and the album is 'Forms'. The group has some of the same members as Schaft. The mixes at the beginning are somewhat poppy, but towards the end (esp. the Autechre tracks) are pretty good. -Jeremy http://users.owt.com/conflux On Tue, 30 Jun 1998, Jon Logan wrote:
