I love the Op-Art comps. I own Reflections and the mix CD of Reflections. Furthermore, I own some Sensurreal stuff on vinyl BUT I need a TON More. Where do I turn next. I know some of Carl Craigs stuff can be like Degiorgio (vice versa) So who else should I look into as I'm getting more and more hooked on this flavor for "dance" music. Btw all the stuff I own is somewhat old dating 96 or prior. What new stuff should I seek out (must be on VINYL!)

Ahhh, so you're into the ultrasmooth stringy detroit techno sound...very good choice. A favorite sound of mine as well. Some names that you may want to check out are Derrick May, Claude Young, Juan Atkins, Steve Pickton, Sean Deason, Russ Gabriel, Ian O'Brien, and Sterac to name a few. Here are a few other suggestions for similar sounds: . Derrick May: Innovator comp 5xLP (Open UK/Transmat) . Claude Young: Soft Thru 2x12" (Elypsia) . Model 500: Sonic Sunset 2x12" (R&S) . Model 500: Starlight 12" (Metroplex) . Phenomyna 5.1 & 5.2 12"s (ART) . The Otherworld Collective: Changing Worlds 12" (Peacefrog) . The Connection Machine: Bitflower 12" (Planet E) . The 4th Wave: Touched 12" (Planet E) . Quadrant: Infiniton 12" (Planet E) . Freq (Sean Deason): Heaven 2x12" (Distance/Matrix) . Convextion: s/t 12" (Matrix) . Psychofuk: s/t 12" (Matrix) . Convextion: Ebulience 12" (Matrix) . Sterac: Secret Life of Machines 2x12" (100% Pure) . 2000 & One: Galaxy Child 12" (100% Pure) . Jerome: Artmosphere 12" (100% Pure) . Here is my review of the Jamie Read lp from Recoreviews pt 18 back in October of 97. To me, this full length has more of a 93-95 Degiorgio sound to it. . Jamie Read: The End of the Beginning 3x12"/CD (Fragmented) Twelve tracks of beautifully melodic housey techno from the man also known as Wookie and Larry Heard Appreciation Society (LHAS). What's most impressive about this release is the complexity of the tracks. These tracks have exquisitely intricate melodies and percussion in much the same manner as Ian O'Brien's "Desert Scores" although not as experimental. Fans of Mr. Fingers, Glen Underground, Ian O'Brien or May/Craig would really enjoy this full-length. I certainly do. Are Jamie's Wookie, LHAS or Ugly Cutz releases as good as this release? 10/10 The fragmented label is a very diverse label that has a very diverse lineup of artists including Dan Curtin, Morgan Geist, Chris Grey, Paul Mac, The Cause, Ordinary Folk (Insync), Groove Tribe (Jay Denham), and Jamie Read. The styles of the Fragmented range from deep techno to tech-house to quirky electro to slamming minimal techno. A great label. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
