Hey everyone. I recently completed my first IDM type track. First time sequencing MIDI/recording and all that biz. If you would like to take a listen point you browsers to: www.toshoklabs.com/nate/PANst.mp3 I appreciate any +/- feedback you can give. I would especially be appreciative of responses from the likes of you music makers out there (Mr. Drukman, Kent, Kung Funk, etc). I am still very new to this, and need help on EQ/mastering techniques, among other things. Please reply in private. thanks all Nate

how is this off topic, may i ask? this is the most on topic post i've seen in the past few days. much more on topic than the 'i' in idm, or the females in idm. in the two years or so (the first of which was spent in lurk mode) i've been on this list, i've watched it decline from an interesting place where music is discussed to a place where you have to dig through a million haystacks just to find that one needle of the slightest bit of information. Mad props to Teep for attempting to keep this chaos in the closet thing to order we can get. And also to all the people who post informative and intelligent (... that's what it's all about, no?) messages.. To the musicians, label heads, djs, writers, web sites, and magazines that try to open the public's eyes to the scene and turn a few heads. For those of you talking stupid, sit back and think- 'do 900 people really care about what i'm about to post'? nine times out of ten the answer will be no. Rather than whining about how isolated we are in our musical tastes, why not try and do something to attract more people, or a least strengthen the current fan base. There needs to be less whiners and more do-ers. Go out, start a record label, buy some equipment, do some tracks, write some reviews, get some dj equipment, start a club. There needs to be more Gonzis and Sms[we miss u stu!] and Lances and less of this crap. Don't give the "i'm too young/poor/isolated/uninformed/whatever" bit cuz it just doesn't work. Evertone can do something. if you don't have anything to contribute then get off the list and out of the scene. - and that's my motivational speech for ya.. btw, is anyone else reallty excited about the PBO/DJ Craze (of 3rd World Citizens) collaberation on the east flatbiush remixes?!?!? will they be doing anything else together? oh [not really idm, i know!] and does anyone know where i can get a hold of that mag with Blackstar's (Kweli/Mos Def) 'Definition' on flexi 7"?? mlt/ _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
