for any idm-ers in los angeles, ca, usa...
this upcoming saturday night (6/13) there is a cd release party for a
compilation disc put together by members of the socal-raves mailing list.
while it does contain some rave-y music, it also has a surprisingly large
amount of more idm-ish type material...
the guilty culprits from the idm list include...
joe rice as clutch
brock suter as part of 2silver boxes
mike dvorkin as koshi
me as bit manipulation
and probably other people who, like me, lurk most of the time...
anyway, amongst other things, the release party will have brock and joe
spinning some tunes, me playing some live electro/idm junk, and another
idm-ish live act called torsion which is a guy named bryan campbell, who
writes some really wicked tunes but has never pressed anything for reasons
that confuse and confound his friends/fans...
anyway, while there will undoubtedly be some 4/4 in tha hou, there will
also be the "weird shit" we all know and love and don't get to hear played
out nearly enough... if you're in or around l.a. drop by and support your
local aspiring idm musicians...
