It's a good album IMO, though I think I like "Semtex" (the album) better. Most tracks on "Ghost" are less ambient/illbient/whatever than the first album. Some of the songs have jungle rhythms, much like the "Semtex" single. It still has the dark, lo fi feel to it though. Dense sound, loads of strange sounds & samples. I can recommend it. Again, 3rd Eye Foundation is a must-see, and he's touring smaller venues. The only upcoming gig date I found was on www.bentcrayon.com, playing at 'speak in tongues' which is in the 216 area code (Cleveland I think). I suspect he'll play chicago in the next day or two on his way there... --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Psyche manifests as psychic through something we call 'winding', because it twists, and puts things that were far apart next to each other, complicatedly, taffywise." -- winona on channel 78 Kent Williams kent@inav.net -- http://soli.inav.net/~kent

Does anyone know anything about the original of the Third Eye Foundation track "KS Kollective" which is remixed on their split 12" (FatCat FAT006)? How does it compare to the remix? Also, question to those with this - is it my copy or has it been mastered from a pretty rough piece of vinyl? I dunno. I've got the full lengths, and I like 'em but I tend to put them on and listen without actually noticing which track is which.

Most of the 3rd eye stuff is recorded on 8 track cassette and then mixed down to DAT. Consequently it's not going to sound really crispy clean. This is a conscious choice -- the lo-fi aesthetic. He wants all those overdubbed guitars to mush together into a wall of sound.

actually, KS Kollective is the name of the group that did the original version of 'there is no end in sight', and i don't think that's it has been released. Apparently they were also on a split 7" with 3ef that was an insert in the obsessive eye magazine (does anyone know where i can get a hold of this?), but other than that, they haven't put anything else out AFAIK. i think i read somewhere that one of the guys who runs fat cat is in the band.

nah, that's just typical third eye 8(four?)-track intentional lo-fi. pick up any one of his albums and you'll see what i mean.. on a related note, aside from Bowery Electric, Mogwai, and, of course, the _in versions_ project, what remix work has matt elliot done ?? is there ia discography somewhere (a quick web scan says no...)? maybe i should throw one up. here's what i know of (McGannon-ized for your viewing pleasure ;-):: .Third Eye Foundation: Semtex CD/LP (Linda's Strange Vacation) .Third Eye Foundation: Semtex 12" (Domino) .Third Eye Foundation: In Versions CD/LP? I think KS Collectiv is the work of one Dave Howell who produced the Obsessive Eye magazine. I believe he now works for Southern Record Distribution in the UK. You can trak OE down at : http://www.manifesto.mcmail.com/obsessiv.htm

Speaking of Third Eye Foundation, can anyone point me to a full discog somewhere on the Internet, I have looked in vain for awhile now. Or if there is none, would someone be kind enough to post one to the list. 3rd Eye can literally do no wrong in my opinion. This goes back a bit, but I asked my roommate from Argentina to pick up the Black Dog vs. Plan-V when he went home, but he brought back instead a Plan-V release sans Black Dog. it was nice, but I was not very impressed, has anyone else heard this album, I can't find it or remember the name at the moment, but I believe it is their only solo release. bubble yur ting todd -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- yes I said yes I will Yes. Yep, on 12" on Sub Rosa. "Bump N' Grind Vs. Third Eye Foundation" is a bit overstated IMO; it's three Bump & Grind tracks, one of which is remixed by 3EF. The B&G tracks are not really my bag (one disco-ish stomp, and one so-so jungle track), the remix is quite good.
