So I was in Border's Books & Music last night browsing the music section when I came upon this cd by Maurizio in a metal case. It had no title and I don't quite remember what artwork was on the front. Can anyone help me here? I do remember the price being about $15.99 which, if it's an import, is not a bad deal. Actually they had a lot of Mille Plateau stuff, Hydrogen Dukebox, and some other smaller labels at reasonable prices. Thanks, Ross

actually, my fav local shop is borders. now, granted i don't have any cool independent shops like modern music near me or anything, but borders still does good for cheap. i've picked up a few chain reaction discs, some M stuff, wordsound, even jazz fudge and schematic stuff for pretty good prices. weird. all this and books. wow. i cant believe they have that at borders. strange. that maurizio cd is on the chain reaction label and is a compilation of 12 " released earlier on basic channel out of berlin. if you havent heard it before it is very layered "detroitish" techno with elements of dub. It's absolutely amazing stuff that is quite addicting. if you like music that makes you listen, you will like this. it is constantly laying down sounds and rythms and harmonies over a steady beat. good luck, they might have some snippits in real audio at www.flatplastic.com stephen At 09:23 AM 5/27/98 -0400, you wrote:

Actually, a lot of great stuff is now available more widely, thanks to EFA Distribution. I don't know the specifics, but I do know that Basic Channel/Chain Reaction/Burial Mix/etc are available via EFA, as well as labels like Tresor, Clear, and others (mostly newer stuff, but some older material as well, I believe). It's even available through many of the large online stores...I got my copy of Monolakes "Hong Kong" from CD-Now. Bill
