I recently received this CD in the mail (contact frankie@gargamel.com in order to acquire one), and I've found it to be a very good slice of electronic composition. It has soothing melodies and easy tempo. Some of it reminds me of Cylobian Sunset in its palette of sounds, maybe throw in a little SAW 1 for good measure. If I could recommend anything to these folks, it would be to maybe get just a little crazier. All in all, very pleasant and "nice," and I was surprised at how well the disc really spoke to me rather than messing with my head. Seven out of ten. Plod - O'boy Plod (CD-R) 5 tracks, total time 25:11 1. Markkinal 2. On The Contrary 3. Word To The Mother 4. Paket 5. I would like to respectfully disagree with Adam here. It's the "very pleasant and nice" sound of the Plod material which endears me to their sound. I don't think that making things "a little crazier" would improve them at all. In fact, i believe it would detract from their sound because IMHO there are too many producers now making things "a little crazier." Acts like Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Mu-Ziq, Global Goon and even recent Autechre have lost the "very pleasant and nice" sounds that they once had and gone crazy with manic breakbeats, peculiar melodies and/or infantile samples. For a change, I would like to see more "very pleasant and nice" releases out there. : ) -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

I think the Plod - O'boy is an excellent cd and is a refreshing addition to my collection. I find the sounds well thought out and technically satisfying. It reminds me of (a moody) Daniel Ibbotson or (less funky) Gerd. Lance C. McGannon wrote:

agreed. 'Pleasant' is one of its best attributes. Jeffrey
