our british heroes have undergone mitosis. Clear and Reel Disc are now separate entities. Clear is Hal's domain, in London - non-exclusive contracts with As One, Daniel Ibbotson, and Reflection. so Clear (II) will apparently keep the Clear (I) label's tradition of exemplary downtempo techno jazz alive. Clair's Reel Disc will concentrate on the tech/house/electro which is Clair's new passion. the label will revolve around the activities of Metamatics, Clatterbox, Morgan Geist, and Daniel Ibbotson. vital and challenging as ever. the nitty-gritty of back-catalogue rights gets compilcated, but Clair retains the rights to Plaid's "Android" 12". ... and so one great label begets two equally great labels. it should always work like that. :n*r:

ever. So GFQ, Spacepimp, Slaz and Rockit are out then? I heard about "Doctorbeats", "Rockitbeats" and "Slazbeats" a while ago (I think even from Clear's own mailinglist)... No news about that? A shame that they split up, Hal & Clair was a helluva team, I can't think of any label which release more than one 12" every other year (read Skam) with such throughout quality of the backcatalogue - fucking übermensch. Finally, has anybody got an email addy to (the new) Reel Discs? Or should I use the other one? Keep Clear. Fe. ----------- "To do is to be" / Descartes ---------- "To be is to do" / JP Sartre --------- "Do be do be do" / Frank Sinatra .
