Was wondering the other day... How many of the artists on this FINE V/Vm / Skam compilation have actually struck a recorddeal. We all know about Jega, Bola, V/Vm, Gescom etc, but what about the rest? Would love to get an album by Junx. I think Mild Man Jan is doing his debut on V/Vm with those homebuild boxes very soon... Any info much appreciated. Word out, Fe. inf: 908285 | F. Audiomontage=Jimpster=Jamie O'Dell there's two audiomontage eps and like four or five jimpster eps out on his freerange imprint. the audiomontage is the more experimental work in the vein of the 0161 track. jimpster is basically breakbeat jazz, involving (oh good god!!)-- a LIVE band! Lance is on top uv Junx (isn't it YUNX?) so that leaves O'Natural, Martian Tin Can, jackfear, or the renegades?? one might assume some of them record for this PUBLIC label... of which none of us know a thing about! can james/vm shed some light?? _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. i believe public is the record label run by the fall (an old punk band). one of whose members is evidently quite enamored of the gescom/skam/vvm/manchester sound(and rightly so).

the fall ("an old punk band" i like it) who were also on 0161 have 1 or 2 releases out in their own right also @ (reviews, lance? :-)) http://www.freedonia.com/~jeff/fall/discog.html their label is "cog sinister", so i guess we'll have to look elsewhere for the "public" culprits. otherwise, i think you might want to say that some of the practitioners of the gescom/skam/vvm/manchester sound are quite enamored w/ the fall sound. -martin totally wired

i get a kick out of these snippets when they pop up; helps me remember what an "old punk fart" i am. yes if i remember properly, there may be at least 3 proper fall releases (couning the DJ spooky remixes of course ;->) i was curious when i first read the track list of 0161, but to hear mark e. smit ranting " 'e's a powderkeg", i realized they neverevereverever even thought about missin' a beat". the term "stayin' power" comes to mind..... beavis: uhuhuhuhuhuh .... he said 'seminal' butthead: hehehehehe NP: gang of four: i've found that essence rare... peeeeeeeece, Jeff Davis <pHlow> ____--~~~~~~vvvv~~~~ oooo518.475.5042 jjdavis@xnet.com____---- ( ( ( vvvv ~~~~~~ooooooooooooo ___----( ( \ \ \ \ \ vvv ooooooooooooooooooo ____---- ( \ \ \ \ \ \ \ http://www.xnet.com/~jjdavis/
