I rediscovered my Stash EP last night. It's funny but with so many records you forget your old favorites. I took it out, dusted it off, and gave it yet another spin. I really like the production. Has High Fidelity done anything else since then? I haven't checked out any of Sweetmother's new releases. Anything worth hunting down? I'd optimally like to get our station (WKPS 90.7 FM -- Penn State University) added to their promo mailing list, but they don't seem to answe their email. high fidelity was a pretty damn good film. while it hit me way way way too close to home (life changes, emotional basketcase, music addict, lack of direction in life), i still really really enjoyed it. i think all you music junkies should see it. and, if youre not a music junkie, at least see it for the cusacks, lisa bonet, sarah gilbert & tim robbins :) or for the odd little references to bauhaus, the smiths, echo, serge gainsbourg, eno, stereolab, etc. -- but wait, thatd make you a music junkie if you enjoy moments.. and probabaly mean you share some of my life issues -- seek help, then see the film.. but maybe not in that order. wait.. everyone on idm is a music junkie, huh? chris. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Actually, there were multiple references if you were able to spot the various Warp 12" records and posters scattered around the store: Aphex Twin - Windowlicker Stereolab - Aluminum Tunes Nightmares On Wax - Carboot Soul Boards Of Canada - Peel Sessions Autechre - Anvil Vapre (I think) Various other IDMish stuffs like Tortoise records and posters... And to top it all off, the movie was 50% romantic comedy and 50% trainspotting, which made me laugh my balls off, being the geeky record-collecting IDM fanboy that I am. superfuzz@home.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

this is off topic but since you liked high fidelity, you should check out nick hornby's other books. his best in my opinion is "about a boy". its really well written and even the way its structured is interesting. ill stop there but e mail me privately if you want a better run down... some IDM content: the herrmann and kleine 12" on city centre offices is really well done. is there any significance to the slowdive lyrics etched in the vinyl? matt -------- www.spaceistheplace.org/ambientmafia On Sat, 1 Apr 2000 00:54:06 -0500 "Superfuzz" <superfuzz@home.com> writes:

i don't know, but in a similar vein i was really struck by duracel's track "inferior" (on their U-Turn 12" on viewlexx) and it's parodic reworking of kiss' "king of the nighttime world." what's up with *that*?! -- http://www.synthesizer.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
