i agree with irene: landcruising is a great record. it was ignored when it came out because it's much more experimental than the psyche stuff and has no breaks like 69. it's also not a very funky paperclip people kind of record. comparisons to kraftwerk were, i though, very appropriate, because it has a very sleek european feel to it. too bad, since it has three or four of cc's best songs ever. home entertainment always pops up in my favourite songs lists (those strings...) i seem to remember the odd interview where carl expressed a bit of bitterness at his record being creamed for not being "the typical funky, dancy detroit" kind of record. incidentally, carl craig mentioned to a friend of mine at the waxy party in montreal last year (carl, derrick and juan in one room! no one went) that the strings on landcruising were mostly from sample cd's and not vintage gear. as far as the more experimental side to cc's music is concerneed, i am _eagerly_ awaiting the new innerzone orchestra record (sun ra's drummer!) peace, a. np: sub-seducer

Experimental? excuse me? i really dont think so. Science Fiction is an excellent track... the best on the album, but is ruined by an appalling guitar solo, putting appalling guitar solos on tracks certainly isnt experimental, so what exactly are you refering to? fah! what do *virgins* know anyway?! i agree that sciencefiction is the best track on the album- the other tracks are good but they don't quite live up to the opening chords of sci-fi... but i actually like that guitar solo, it gives the track a bit of a *climax*...

what exactly are you refering to? it all depends on the contex, imo... putting guitar solos on a detroit techno album would be like playing hip-hop beats to classical... both would qualify as experimental... later. :spacecake:
