Sorry, no offense meant. Remember that I was in Riz Maslen Fanboy Rant Mode at the time :-) I want to have her bab... erm, new music! And I want it now dagnabit! And not being privy to the inner machinations of labels, to my untrained mind "5 months" == "glacial-like pace". Sorry.

Now *this* I just don't get. To me they're two different entities, regardless of whether they happen to release albums that have similarities, imagined or real. The press bit I can understand a little more ... jimg/skoop wrote about SF:

Emphasis "seemed". Far be it for me to deny you your opinion of Neotropic, but if that's what you think she was doing, you weren't paying close enough attention. The keyboard was used to trigger samples from an Akai S3200 and at other times was played straight through. From what I saw she only slapped on a record (or three) a few times during the set, presumably for added ambience or flava. If you're grading her based on the "mixing skillz" perspective, that's not what she's about at all.

This might have been timing-related, down here she played 2nd and the club was 2/3rds empty when she started ... so no packed sweaty masses to vibekill. (Then again, the people down here - and it was 2/3rds full by the time she finished - seemed to dig it.) Tsog5000 wrote:

Most everyone I talked to thought it was 'way too loud. Of course, for most of the time I was in the very back by the bar. I know this has been brought up awhile back by Jon Drukman, but PLEASE people bring some earplugs to these events! It's hardly a problem to put a couple earplugs in your pocket before the show and they cost only a few bucks. When I felt the sound getting too loud at the Ninjas show I put the plugs in, simple as that. Granted, the highs get cut a lot, but it's so much better than feeling like you have cotton in your ears for the next couple days and then have high pitched tones invade your ears periodically for the *rest of your life* from Tinnitus. Just do yourself a favor. i wholehearedly second that, having been initiated into the ranks of the tinnitus afflicted 5 months ago, i can only say that in some respects it has made my life a living hell. (imagine having a extremely minimal sahko track on in your head ALL THE TIME. belive me, the novelty wears off *real* fast...)if you love music and more importantly if you write tracks yourself, you'll need to have your ears in good shape for a long long time... i'm only 21 and it really pisses me off that for the rest of my life i'll have to plan around this shit. and man, do i feel like kicking my own ass now for not being careful enough... (ironically, i was aware of tinnitus and thought i *was* being careful enough... well, i guess i was wrong. sigh) anyway, i would highly recommened checking out the tinnitus FAQ on how to protect yourself: http://www.cccd.edu/faq/tinnitus.html (if this site dosen't work there are a bunch of other sites that have it) and now for something completely different: how does saber's of paradise sabersonic2 compare to sabersonic1? i sold my copy of saber1 soon after it was deleted and been wanting it back ever since... so is saber2 equally good (i know it has some tracks on it from saber1) or is it just a bad sequel...? thanks in advance. :spacecake:

I know someone who is older than Greg on the list, but I won't give her away ( your *secret* is safe!). And I'll be 42 in September anyway. jeff -- dancing/about/architecture "...with wandering steps and slow..." ICQ 904008
