in the mail today... b12-3ep wap102 3 lengthy tracks (20 min total) from the most detroity sounding warp artists. the beats have definetely picked up since time tourist. much heavier percussion with some break styled beats in each of the tracks. very pleasant even after one listen. junior varsity-taking care of you darla056 san fran. drum and bass kid that has shown up in more indie zines than electronic. a quick scan would call for a close comparison to friend-hot rod, with most tracks between 7-9 mins consisting of pretty smooth breaks and that style of dot funk/horn sound. i have heard comparisons to the rdj album, but this is much less frenetic and stretched out. btw- those of you who like more ambienty sounds should check out the bliss out series, also on darla, (up to 11 i think) some electronic, like flowchart-tenjira, and some much more instrumental, like american analog set and windy and carl, but they are all excellent bedroom ambienteers.
