if im one of those two, then its our responsibility to get the word out: PLOD - O'BOY 1) markkinal 2) on the contrary 3) word to the mother 4) paket 5) eucalyptus all tracks were composed, produced, mixed and recorded by Plod at coldfeet studios, 1997-1998... IMO, plod is on the verge of the next step, a real record/distribution deal...when i compare (i know, i know, i shouldnt do this) them to the universe of idm out there, i ask myself, why not for christsakes? maybe because they're scandinavian? who knows? anyway, plod has shown a steady progression in their art, and particularly in their production technique...whereas, the two releases i have, including backgammon, attempted to maybe do too much, o'boy gives you just enough...the tunes are crafted such that you sense a beginning, middle and end...sometimes "songs" leave you hanging, w/o a feeling of completeness...this one doesnt...each tune explores different tones, textures and melodies...in other words, they stand alone, and could easily be highlights of dozens of compilations...the music on this ep is also less aggresive than their previous output, mellower, quieter, dare i say more ambient? it shows a greater level of maturity and confidence...there is less of sonic drama to it...and thats the difference this disc has from "true" ambient: you want to listen, regardless of where you are...easily one of the better releases this year to date... tom w sp: plod - o'boy _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
