--------------------------------------------- 102 1=='''2lw : $250:: ;-O --------------------------------------------- dear mr constable pickle >> hope jenny and the kids are well and send our love to uncle pete, and also while we're on >>>>>> //___all this talk about $250 for a pair of lego feet really is beginning to grate like a mild man jan in a frying pan. i really do feel sorry for the poor soul who purchased his lego feet for the above price. for my part i really do think everybody has lost their marbles on this one.... above all else this discussion trancends the collector issue and enters the realm of the schoolyard "i've got it and you havn't" attitude. these people who mail the list with prices for vinyl stating how much can be made by re-pressing are really losing the point. the point is that from our experience when vvmt1 was pressed we had over 400 records sitting in a bedroom for over a year. as people became aware this number dwindled down over a period of 12 months and the last six months has seen our stock disappear. the total profit on vvmt1 over these two years was a net loss of about £200. as a result of vvmt2/3/4 and cat flap people have suddenly want vvmt1. we are in a position where if we re-press any stock (which co-incidentally our distributors would love) we would be unable to release new material. vvmt1/2/4 can all be downloaded i'm informed from mp3's. surely people would prefer to have an mp3 of vvmt1 and two other new ep's to listen to ? (it's about the music) sure you get more when you buy an ep, you get the individuality of the packaging and most importantly vinyl (an mp3 is only a small compensation)l. the best thing everybody on this list can do is to get behind and support, not just ourselves, but all labels who release music in small quantities (because it's all we can currently afford and unlike some people on the list we look for no profit). we are all aware that by re- pressing vvmt1 + skam1 we can make a profit, but at the end of the day our time don't stick./ we must move on_ :: too many people build careers by releasing one record and re-releasing it 77or more times (no we are not going to mention any names Elton). instead of searching for a vvmt1 or skam1 why not spend your days looking for the next V/Vm or Skam label whose records, like ours once were, are sitting in a bedroom somewhere gathering dust......... and i promise that when we can afford to re-press vvmt1 etc. without it affecting any future releases we will do so, which will hopefully stop these ridiculous prices............. at the end of the day we are grateful and value your support so why should we want to release small quantities thus making all of you pay stupid amounts for them, it just doesn't make sense ! please support the guy who suggested starting an idm label. he has got the right idea, the seed has been planted it now needs cultivating, lets see what can be grown >> (V/Vm commited to new projects) -a future name for collectors to look for : join the dots-music-- ----[please research this outlet] thanks for listening and love to joan and phil, looking forward to vvmt5------- Prof. Broxburn (V/Vm product control). xxxx np. spot the birdie (from vvmt5) ---------------------------------------------- vvma p10i0wkkwkwkwk[1;1//1 ---------------------------------------------- out may 1st : VVMT5 Chart Runners (15 track LP) if you have any difficulty locating this product or any V/Vm products please contact for our free advice__/ with no obligation___: vvm@v-vm.demon.co.uk

Amen! Glad to see this discussion - been most enlightening.... I've got a question tho - anybody know where the MP3s of vvmt1, 2, & 4 are available (as well as MASK1 (I found MASK2) and any Skam)? I searched the web and found one guy that had them, but he hasn't responded to my email. This has prob'ly been discussed in the past, but I wasn't interested in MP3s at the time and since idm archives don't exist, I can't find out. Thanks in advance for any info..... cya brian -------------------------------------------------------- "The most dementing of all modern sins: the inability to distinguish excellence from success." - David Hare

i agree with prof. lets get this stuff together. however, what we don't want to do is turn this into an idm remix chain 2 with all the voting mess and that. then what happens is threads 2,3,4...806. that, mis amigos, no one wants. i'm open to suggestions though as far as this label thang is concerned. i think we've got enough talent around here to pull this off. i personally don't think we will really have a problem finding a worthy person to take care of the money...there have been some people who have been around for a long time here on the list that i'm sure we could trust completely. brainstorm time. talk to the guy who did those mind/body comps for r.m.i., i'm sure he can demonstrate what not to do... :) support the small peeps...i say!

(don't forget the already existing small labels on the list. i know there must be a few more besides myself.) as far as we're concerned, we've got a full release schedule as far as most of 1998 is concerned (5 releases in varying formats) but we're probably going to be looking for some remixes on a few of the later releases. as each product is ready for release i'll notify the list. (first one is a 'fingernail' 12" lp with accompanying 7" ep for the first 250 coming out in roughly a month (??), after that a remix ep from that lp featuring in_tense and quasimojo) but there must certainly be a few others on the list who are pressing records. i know two people at my radio station alone who have been pressing random records for random people recently. (laris just pressed a crazy 'lesser' 7", i'll get some info on that) don't just send your demos to warp or rephlex! look around. (or just press them yourself when you get tired of waiting around for responses like we did. :) (all you small (tiny?) record labels, speak up) there is actually quite a lot of stuff in the works here in philly, but once i have all of the official details on all of the projects i'll let you know. (for instance, 'flowchart' is putting together a montly remix 12" featuring remixes by established artists of new artists' music. like <blank>'s tracks remixed by global goon and bochum welt (which is the first one in tbe series, but i forgot who <blank> is supposed to be.) and fingernail remixed by horse opera and wafta. (but wafta dropped out i think..)) anyway: support the small-fries. -eric --- eric sherman szale@doubtful.com doubtful productions www.doubtful.com wkdu 91.7fm philadelphia transmitting ambient/idm thursdays midnight-6am
