Just for the record: This should be Stock, Hausen and Walkman. Karlheinz Stockhausen wouldn't be caught dead doing what SH&W are doing. In short: difference between Stockhausen and Stock, Hausen...: A sense of humour.

Hi all, I'm a bit slow on the draw on this one cos I haven't been keeping up with IDM as much as I used to of late (the For Sale/Trade lists are cool with me, although I'm generally not that interested in them, but I would like to see some content inbetween them too). Anyway, seeing as no-one else has responded so far, here goes... neuromx <neuromx@CAM.ORG>

Salford in/near Manchester is where the Stock, Hausen and Walkman people hail from, and I'd assume the label does too. The only other Hot Air thing I know of is something very strange I picked up about a year ago. It's a pink 7" called "Buy Me, Sue Me" which has 42 locked grooves on each side, all of which are loops of parts of other peoples records with the work 'me' in them, hence the title. Also hence why only a few hundred were made. Good for a laugh and an essential DJ tool and generally very strange. Why someone would make the effort to do this I have no idea. Oh yeah, and it's also great to put on at high volume just before you leave the house :-) gb. PS Stock Hausen and Walkman had an LP out called Organ Transplants Vol 1, I think. Don't know what label that was on though... -- [b]r[e]a[k]b[e]a[t] [e]r[a] _ Roni Size Reprazent Krust Die Suv Full Cycle Dope http://www2.prestel.co.uk/lwtcdi/era/ Dragon V Philly Blunt Chronic Protocol [profiles][discographies][sounds][interviews][news]

I *think* it was on Staalplaat out of The Netherlands. Also, SH+W have got a remix on the "remixes" edition of the latest Pulp single, "This is Hardcore", along with mixes by 4 Hero and Tipsy. Gave it a quick listen at the local import shop last night, and it sounded pretty nice, but then again I like the original track so others might think it's total crap. Greg

I guess it was available through: http://www.staalplaat.com/ maybe also mego mail-order: http://www.mdos.at/ (brand new domain!!) I have here Hot Air phone no in the UK, with a rather familiar area code: +44 161 8327991 (figure out which one is the area code..) but I also remember reading somewhere that the label had something to do with Iceland

Clive Bell: 'it's hilarious, it's irritating, it's a high concept limited edition art object, it's a confident and original piece of music seamlessly welded to comment on the medium itself' ...out of his article on SH&W in The Wire, September 1997 Highly recommended for anyone interested in those two geezers.. and I guess this quote is a great description of this 7" - incredible example of arts self referential aesthetics mk np.
