Last Friday I found this Maurizio cd on a Virgin Megastore but the stupid guys there wouldn't let me listen to it because it was wrapped in plastic (now that's a silly reason...). So, I'd like to know if somebody can help me and tell me what's on it and if it's worth the money (about $18). The case is a square metal box with some pictures on the cover and no text or whatever on the back. The pictures on the cover gave me the imression that the cd was some kind of compilation because some of them contained blurred text like "M7", "(edit)" [many of them] or "12" remix". There was no title around but the sticker on the front had a reference number, something like 22222-2 and the word Maurizio. Any help with this please?, what's on it? Jose C. Yeah I'm sure Lance could give the exact run down of what 12"s these come from, but basically it's a comp of the Maurizia records, and it's great. Actually all those CD's that come in the metal boxes (Monolake, Basic Channel, etc) are good. If I remember, the Maurizio is a little more Detroit/ultra-repetitve and minimal/steady house, versus say the Basic Channel disc which has a dub feel to it. All of these CD's are very chilled out, and I listen to them to fall asleep at night. BTW, do these guys ever collaborate with Juan Atkins? Their styles are remarkably similar (ie Model 500's Deep Space type stuff) Go pick it up! peace Nate On Mon, 23 Feb 1998, Jose C. Cabezas wrote:

Tracks on the Maurizio comp cd: . m6 edit . m7 edit . m4 original . m5 edit . domina edit . m4 edit . m7 unreleased mix . m4.5 edit . m6 edit the m# corresponds to the cat # of the record each track comes from.

Yes they have collaborated on several occassions. Here are the few i can remember off the top of my head: . Model 500: Deep Space cd/2x12" (R&S) * Much of this album was engineered by Mauritz Von Ozwald . Model 500: Starlight 12" (Metroplex) * Remix by Mauritz Von Ozwald . Juan Atkins: Infiniti Collection cd (Tresor) * The track "Think Quick" was co-produced by Mauritz Von Ozwald . Joey Beltram: Instant remix 12"/cd (Logic) * Remix by Juan Atkins & Mauritz Von Ozwald . Joey Beltram: Instant unreleased remix off the Tresor 4 comp (Tresor) * Remix by Juan Atkins & Mauritz Von Ozwald -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Also, Atkins collaborated with Von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann on an excellent 12" (which is still in print, btw) on Metroplex as M500/3MB, it's called "Jazz Is The Teacher" - d.w.

I see his name all the time, and now I see the connection. Also, I have the 'Jazz is the teacher' 12" (actually I have the CD, and I think that was released on R&S?), and you're right, it's ace. I think (at least it sounds like it) that Von Oswald also had a part in the 'Sonic Sunset' JA release? I don't have the liner notes in front of me... Nate

First of all thanks to everybody who helped me with this. Yesterday I found a very extensive basic channel-maurizio-chain reaction discography on the web and now I have another question :P What's that about Moritz von Oswald being HALF of Maurizio???, who's the other half??. My info (from that web discography is this: -Maurizio = Moritz von Oswad -Basic Channel = Mark Ernestus & Moritz von Oswald -Burial Mix = Moritz von Oswald, Mark Ernestus & Tikiman -Rhythm & Sound = same Jose C.
