Hope so, cuz they've been impossible to grab for many moons. I've been trying for all of them. jeff

I've been | trying for all of them. I've been fortunate to get my hands on the aforementioned release (Toward the unknown region) - What are the titles of the two other releases in this trilogy, and when were they released ? And can anyone tell how closely this item resembles other works of Wiliam Orbit, like the Strange Cargo series? I've got a feeling my wallet isn't going to be happy ... -- christian s. larsen aka beacon/sublevel3 --------- visit our ambient den http://www.sublevel3.org ----

The recent Strange Cargo releases are more closely related. Definitely more beats on Strange Cargo than on "Unknown Region". If you're a beatless ambienter, start from the most recent Strange Cargo (#4) and work back. There's also a "Best of Strange Cargo" which is a good starting point. 3

I'm unfamiliar with anything other than the first Torch Song record which was released in the early 80s. Can't even recall it's title. I DO know that while you can hear traces of what WO's style will become in it, I wouldn't go looking for that lush sonic pool which has become his trademark. As someone else remarked, they are slick dance-pop records with nice synth touches and percussive emphases. If you've heard the Bass-O-Matic lp, you have to go back a few steps from that to get to where the 1st Torch song is. If indeed it is true as someone said, hold onto your wallet and see if they get kicked out as re-releases. You're better off seeking out Bill's remixes (of which their are MANY) for getting that hi falutin' Orbit rush you're probably looking for. F'rinstance, ever heard some of his early Erasure mixes...like "Star" or "Supernature"? (actually, I can't remember exactly which mixes were his on the cd single, but just remember being floored by it at full volume when it came out.) jeff
