I bought this a few weeks ago but out of a pile of stuff I only sort of gave it a quick listen .Theres three tracks on it and the other two are good but "lunar funk" is breathtaking, I felt compelled to tell someone. Defies words but try stop/starty beats at a techno pace, runs through a range of moods using subtle and not so subtle melodies and an array of melting strings. The 303 near the start gives the impression that its going to be an acid stomper but the silver lad is just thrown into a corner as the more heart-touching sounds take over. Maas + Jamie Read + Scot hardkiss having a scrap and then deciding to play with each other. Definitely the best purchase of '98. John

I haven't heard the subfunk 12", I have to mention how good all the releases on the offshoot label are. If you like melodic funky techno with a touch of house then this label is for you. Here is what Offshoot has done so far: Offshoot: . Bush Flange: Style Wars 12" (Offshoot/SHOOT 001) . Aubrey: Marathon 12" (Offshoot/SHOOT 002) . Obelix: Sublime 12" (Offshoot/SHOOT 003) . Aubrey: Octane 12" (Offshoot/SHOOT 005) . Skymaster (Mark Ambrose): Proton Beams 12" (Offshoot/SHOOT 006) My favorite is the Obelix 12". -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Have to agree, my favourite label at the moment.

I was wondering what the first two were, hopefully I'll be able to pick them up somewhere, I got the rest. To fill in the gap(s) for anyone interested ... .Skymaster: Disco trippin (Offshoot/SHOOT 004) The subfunk one is shoot 007 (with a license to thrill!)
