However you pronounce or write it... Anyway, I just got "In pine effect" for review in my music magazine (a little late, I know, but the Norwegian distribution didn't happen until now). So I just want some details about the recording process etc. I mean, I know much (I think...), but I just want to be absolutely on the safe side, so I don't write anything wrong. Can you please mail me ASAP? (Deadline is on Sunday.) Christian

From the IGG Pre-release list: GARY MOSCHELES (U-ZIQ) SHAPED TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER CD (UK) 11/15/96 While maintaining his offbeat quirkiness, this project has a more funky, organic feel. (Prices deleted) Paul Rafanello intone@warwick.net

Reading this message (and the previous drooling reply soliciting release dates), I can only say one thing: get ready for the most overhyped IDM record since 'Feed Me Weird Things.' Fat Cat had several copies of both volumes of Urmar Bile Trax for sale on Friday in case you're interested. I'm gonna wait for the CD but I did have a listen, and they soundeded incredible. Mike's still got his melodies but the rhythms are getting very interesting. -Ed

I was in there on Saturday and I bought 'em both. Killer stuff. Super intricate breaks, constantly changing, mixed in with wierd noises zinging off all over the place and of course Mike choons on top. Snap these ones up kids. Other notable purchases on the Saturday record buying mission: Both Skam Gescom EP's: finally found these two in Rough Trade - you all know what they're like - I only mention it to say never give up hope, those limited editions always show up when you least expect it. Derrick Carter vs Skylab - the trip. Nice tunefull upbeat acid house music. Erm I thought skylab was something to do with Howie B. right? No mention of him on the label, And the music doesn't sound like the skylab I know at all. Maybe a different Skylab? Bochum Welt - Module 2 - Nice one, If you like Cylobian sunset this one will go down swimmingly. Harold Budd/Hector Zazou Glyph remixes - Good mixture of an EP. Herbert weighs in with more sweet House music in his own magic style. Solid Doctor chills out with some relaxed trip hop, and someone else who I can't remember does the business with the jungle remix. (An aside, I can't believe the Jungle bunny explanation for the name - the UK rave scene is not racist and considering all the orignal junglists were black it doesn't seem very likely. Anyway I always thought the the name came from a part of Kingston Jamaica, as in "Alla junglists..." ragga sample in early tunes.) Clear - Beatsomatic - Less tune, more DJ toolz than the other two clear beats records. Nice breaks though good for mixing and matching. Annoying cover though - that little C gets torn off the first time I try to put the record in the shelf. As if by magic, Andrew C. appeared.

forgive me, but is this a new Mu-Ziq album? I have been quite into Mu-Ziq but have not actually bought many records, I got Bluff Limbo the other day and it's wild, I love it. _________________ ______ ___________ ___ | / \| \| \ | | | |__ __| | | | |_| | | | | | | |\_ _/ | | | | | | | | |___| \______/|______/|______/ |___|

Its funny to see all these people trying to get clever about writing Mike P's name correctly and sending out ; B5-ziq Its obviously something to do with diff email sysetms but reckon the best way to write it is "u-ziq" which only lacks the Greek letters front tail. I must be bored, sending mail like this :) r wp: Spooky - Bamboo ep, remixes are the dogs sperm sacs!!

I recently picked up a compilation with a couple of U-Ziq tracks on it and really liked it. I was thinking about getting something else specifically by them. What would anyone recommend as their best disc? Also... does anyone know of a copy of T-Power's Self Evident Truth of an Intuitive Mind + Chronology/ two disc set.... for sale anywhere? Thanks, matT

No way!! I am not full on into the U-Ziq sound, which is probably why I don't care for Lunatic Harness, but I like In Pine Effect a fair amount. I don't spin it so often, but that of course has nothing do to with its quality (?) On Tue, 10 February 1998, at 11:09:09, Irene McC wrote:

Definitely go with Bluff Limbo. It was the first Mu-ziq release I snagged, and still the best in my opinion. Diverse, funky, and brimming with great and fully-developed ideas (which some of Mike P's later releases are notoriously lacking in). Lunatic Harness is basically In Pine Effect with breakbeats (huge generalization, but defendable), so unless you are really into dnb, you can skip acquiring it til later. J
