I think the source track should be some bullshit Celine Dion or Bryan Adams song, something so utterly devoid of interestingness that remixing it would be a real challenge. Didn't RDJ once say he only remixes stuff he doesn't like? _Cf

hmm i dont really want to remix hanson as such.... but its probably a better alternative to The Spice Girls because the Spice Girls do have beats and synths and stuff which vaguely resemble stuff on idm rekkids....come on dont flame me! you know what i mean...? i reckon the original Celine Dion/Bryan Adams ideas were better Steve /k/./F/ The Church Of England :- Killing Foreigners for Profit and Jesus

This whole IDM remix chain idea is great, as is the idea of starting with some piece o' crap "pop" song. But why not seperate them into *two* projects? Project 1: A remix chain starting with a track by someone on IDM and continuing with mixes by other IDMers, a la Dot's "Endlessnessism". Project 2: Rather than a remix chain, have all musical IDMers interested in contributing pick some annoying, awful song of their choosing and rework it into something IDM-like. Thoughts? Greg (no musical talent, so I wont be contributing anyway)

Theyre both good ideas, i think the chain remix. / awful song idea is still best though, it would be a lot more fun and less prone to moany IDM criticism! I think it would probably be a lot more motivating as well... plus we could stick them all on a cdr and have a highly illegal disc..... The whole pop to IDM was already partially done with the Nav Katze's "never mind the distortion" , it's a CD of remixes by The Black dog, Aphex Twin and others based on a japanese pop group; and you know what japanese pop sounds like ! :). mso imagine the results ... At least that was good, and was funny to listen too! I don't think any one can make an IDM remix of ANY celine Dion songs... without turning it into a real parody... You have sort of been beaten to it I'm afraid. Chris Morris (Brass Eye & The Day Today) cut up the speech for the last instalement of his Blue Jam radio show/experiment/? on 1FM. It was the last thing on show 4 before the whole thing was faded out and replaced with show 1 which had been running at the same time (just in case he did somthing like that). Unless he did it himself! You can find out more about the man genius Morris on a web site dedicated to him (sorry don't know the URL try searching under Brass Eye) where they may have a transcript of the cut up. Very funny, if you have a sense of humour on this subject. Steve.N n.p. Nick Webb demo circa 93. Are you on this list Nick?
