I believe the track listing is as follows: Bacherolette (God I Fucking Suck, Please Shoot Me Mix) Bacherolette (Why Am I Still Alive Mix) Bacherolette (Talent? Who Needs It Mix) Please Beat Me With a Baseball Bat [a special b-side] Sounds like a winner, believe you me. - wells

Wells, I'm sure someone will slag you for this and rightly so, but I thought at least for the B-side you would have included the version only found on an american promo for Bacherolette called "Mail-Bombed". Love Bjork's new one though.... Rusty

hi all, i just realized a wonderful tool that has been at my fingertips without my realizing it. see, all this time i've been subscribing to the digest on the pretext of the ease of manageability of chunks of idm posts. the downside is that i had to save every message in every chunk, effectively replicating the idm list archive on my very own harddrive - not an economic role for a device which has had less than 20M free constantly for the past 6 months. today, while reading yet another digest of questionable savings value, i figured out that i could sub to the "live" idm list, granting me access to the individual components of the digests while also exposing these messages to certain functions of my email reader, functions which enable me to process the contents of each message and place them accordingly. this same function also allows me to set up a special list of special people, so that i never have to see another post from venomous space-wasters like our cosubscriber below. now i don't have to wait for a policy where people start getting banned from the list for _consistently_ offering little more to read than the word "nothing" extrapolated into as many words as possible. where have you gone, oh (wsp)? eric onnow: stereolab:miss modular(duophonic/eastwest japan)

A better query might be: Anyone know if this is actually out yet? I got my info on this release being out this week from the One Little Indian website, but I got no confirmation elsewhere, so I suspect it may've been delayed. Greg

Let's see wells, it looks like you hate bjork and you hate goldie... How about tricky, I suppose you hate him too? Who do you like, you sniveling little dork? All you ever do is complain about who or what you thinks sucks and I really don't see much use for it, so I guess it's time to put you back in my kill file. Your shit really isn't that funny... brock. ps. There is a lot of music out there that I don't really like, but I don't feel the need to say that 'so and so should die'. pps. When someone asks a question, the generally accepted method of replying is the correct answer, not some stupid smartass remark like you seem to love to make. You're not making any friends here by slagging people who ARE actually doing something, like making music, rather then just running their mouth, which is all you ever do.

yes, i like tricky. a lot, actually. he actually writes music. unlike bjork and goldie. anyway, i wuz just joking with the bjork comment (in case anyone didn't pick up on it. apparently you didn't). i need to keep in mind that this list doesn't have a sense of humor about itself. sorry. --- : wells oliver / s0ewoliv@titan.vcu : http://mute.simplenet.com

I dig Tricky quite a lot as well, but as for the point about actually writing music: Take a closer look at the liner notes. I can't say this is true for every track which says "contains elements of...", but in several cases I know the original sources. The samples are as obvious and wholesale as NWA using the "Amen, Brother" break -- or to sink really low, Vanilla Ice. "Makes Me Wanna Die" is a chilling song that gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it, but the bulk of it comes directly from an Eric B. & Rakim beat. I don't say this to diminish the end result or Tricky's talent, but only to make the specific point above. Does anyone else find Bjork tremendously attractive? Please don't tell me I'm alone on that... ;-) --Mark __ <http://www.xnet.com/~mkolmar/BurningRome> < MPEG & RA audio clips > Forthcoming CD SENSELESS on Mindfield Records MINDCD03 Cathartium 14 m u s i c : w e b : s o u n d d e s i g n : h t m l : c g i : e t c "I'm a liberal guy too cool for the macho ache with a secret tooth for the cherry on the cake" -- Prefab Sprout, "Cruel"

Yes, she is. Anyway, she does write her own music....well, maybe....I saw the South Bank show about her and she has this drum-machine (or sampler maybe) that she carries around with her and can put ideas down straight away on it. They showed her playing with it on a beach i seem to remember. So she may write some (small) parts of music here and there...or just soundbites that get incorporated into tunes maybe. -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

I asked about tricky because he was the third wheel in that little love triangle they had going a while back..I guess YOU didn't get the joke.

Most of the people I know on this list have a damn good sense of humor. I know I do. The problem is that your posts aren't very funny because most of the time, you're not joking...just being an asshole.

Wells excels! Enough about this post has been said already, but I just wanted to put my views forward anyway because I can so nyah :-p Firstly, I don't think anyone should be removed from the list because of views like the above, as has been suggested by some other listmembers. If you don't like it, you don't have to read all of it, and it's not exactly so long that it is a significant waste of time or bandwidth. Wells comments are pretty much consise and to the point, and they are not 200 pages of total crap (usually about 1 page of crap!), and the only criteria for throwing people off the list for me would be if they were pointlessly huge, IMO. If Wells posts ruined your otherwise cloud-free day, then he's probably achieved his objective. I didn't find the post particularly funny or offensive, but I think to say such posts/posters should be removed is the equivalent of people who say "why can't we have a news programme with just happy news in it?". A forum is not neccessarily full of tasty morsels tailored to the individuals on the list - it is a forum in which there will (and should) be extremes which will not suit everyone. Blah, blah, blahdy blah. Secondly, despite the above, I agree that just because you have a negative opinion about a band/artist, you don't have to express it. A while back there was a big discussion about the Beach Boys. Now if it was up to me, and I was the sole person listening to them, I probably would have their legs ripped off by rabid hounds, but I didn't say so 'cos it was obvious enough that I didn't like them, and it would hardly help in gaining any insight into why people do like them. Wells did express his opinion (the rabid dogs thing), which of course is up to him. I don't think gaining insight from other peoples views is his reason for being on this list, so it wouldn't bother him that he wouldn't gain anything other than a place on some people's kill file as a result of his posting. Thirdly, who gives a fuck who writes the music on an artists LP. This is no basis to like/dislike the music on! Stop trying to rationalise and let your heart decide! To not listen to Bjork just 'cos she doesn't write all her own music is to discredit the other people who did work on it in such as Mark Bell etc. To enjoy the music is the point of the Bjork album, but at the same time it is not lowest common denominator music, there are some exciting and innovative things going on here, and that is the beauty of Homogenic, it has pop appeal in image and music, it's not throwaway (it has depth) and the music is challenging if you want it to be. The latter seems to be your sole reason for listening to music, so you should be able to get something from this album, but no doubt you wont be able to because you probably can't accept that something can be popular and challenging at the same time. This is, I would suggest, because really you hate the PEOPLE who listen to pop music, not the pop music itself. As for Tricky, he might make his own music, but only just. Badly looping a sample and throwing some other cut up bits over the top hardly ranks as the most effort in the world, IMO, and although effort isn't everything, his latest batch of music is the most lacklustre expression of 'genius' I've ever heard. Please release the hounds on him and anyone who listens to him, round them up and torture them all with a cattle prod until they can no longer function as human beings (IRONY). And what about Bjorks collab with Tricky, "Enjoy", and the track on the Nearly God LP? Did you "Enjoy" or did you pour scorn on it? Guess it would depend on your ability to rationalise it like so: If music = by Bjork, music = bad. If music = by Tricky, music = good. And if you can't work this out, maybe you'll even have to listen to it to find out. What is the world coming to eh, when you have to listen to a peice of music to find out how good it is? That's all folks... gb. PS Please feel free to add me to your kill file if you deem this post too long or time consuming. -- /TheW i http://www.homeusers.prestel.co.uk/lwtcdi/all/ f o L D o dlr WTC "Let's decompose and enjoy assembling!"
