Ok. I will readily admit that I have heard nothing of Freeform's outside of the skampler, but I am on a tangent, so of course reason has no place in my tirades... you know about that, it's the IDM list! But anyways... Why do people talk about Freeform, when they basically really bad? It's just the worst crap I have heard outside of Like-a-Tim's remix CD. (Noone does that to Bochum Welt and gets away with it in my book.) I know I am starting the fire here, but thats what the list is about... at least sometimes.. :) (wouldn't be much of a list with just positive reviews, now would it?) Ok, reply with messages about what I haven't heard by them and how great it is and all that, and how wonderful Like-a-Tim is... (yeh.) Shane

Shane, how could you judge the work of a producer by hearing just one or two tracks? You have listened to less than 1% of his work and yet say Freeform really bad? That's like calling someone a lifelong moron because he posted one ignorant question. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you need to listen to more of any artists work before making such statements. Try listening to Freeform's: Elastic Speakers cd on Worm Interface or the Freeform 12"s on Musik Aus Strom or Skam before passing judgement. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Yes, please!!! Elastic Speakers or Heterarchy are a must before passing judgement... they are without doubt different, but really great stuff. so you judge an entire artists rep on two tracks?? that is one closed mind ya got there....what if you judged, for example, mike p on the _urmur_ eps?? i cannot believe that without ANY clue whatsoever of someones music you have the idea to refer to him as 'really bad' it's disgusting. besides the Skampler tracks are great!

"Siamese Telebox" on the Skam EP (good luck getting it, mine set me back fifty smackers! tho well worth it) is possibly one of my favorite tracks ever (it's that good)... the ambient synth bits in the background, the faux-horns, oooooh yeaah... Elastic Speakers is also great... the album flows together completely as one piece, and it's three years old! heterachy is also good.

As for my "own", I really don't get that much out of the Freeform releases. Mr. Pyke uses interesting sounds, but they don't really hang together very well IMO. Some artists can make music out of strange sounds but Freeform just sounds like a collection of noises to me. <shrug> "Dark Start" from the ELpH vs. Coil LP I assume. Speaking of making music out of alien sounds... GD

I don't know what are you talking about, are you really talking about Freeform. Simon makes so jazzy electronica, and he is one of the finest new school electronica artists. It's hard to people to accept new freshhhh music, but I didn't expecti it here on IDM You, like Shane obviously didn't hear much of his stuff. I hope so....

Considering Like-A-Tim, IMO his CDEP on Rephlex is great, but who gives a fuck. Try to find his 'Boogie 2x12"' , 'Look-A-Like 12" , 'Audio Art 12" or 'Cacophony 12" or anything on Djax. All of those records are brilliant, and really represent the best tracks from Tim v. Leyden.

i'm probably of a similar opinion to yourself, especially on the palavalamp single and the one on warp which i thought were incredibly dreary. BUT there are 2 good tracks that are worth looking out for in my humble opinion: siamese telegraph from the skam ep and the track he did on the alt.frequencies compilation, which are definitely a cut above the rest <waves> np - doctor who the music - bbc radiophonic workshop

Yes, and those are not a bit better than The Remixes. (but aren't worse as well). Rob's brother np: love is such a treasured thing
