I also have a tape of the Plaid peel session from last night. A short review of the tracks: (this is my first review on idm so bear with me!) 1 - Scoobs in Columbia Originally from 'mbuki mvuki', this got the remix treatment for the session. Most of the original elements were still there: that wicked piano loop and the same drum break; although the original samples sounded like they had been made to sound alot more noisy than on the original vinyl? Interspersed throughout these original elements were the some more recent plaid-like sounds of the 'type' found on the new(ish) lp. 2 - Seph This sounded pretty much like the original on 'Not For Threes'. The overall sound was alot more raw: the reverbs didn't sound so lush as they did on the original, all the synth sounds were more identify-able as well. The overall impression was that the track had been stripped down considerably - possibly because they were doing a 'live' version of it in the studio? 3 - Boo Bouch (not sure about the spelling??) Can't remember much about this one (i'm writing this from memory at university) other than it was a new one on me. I remember feeling quite pleased that i recorded it! 4 - Ol Again a stripped down 'Not For Threes' track. This still featured the original pseudo four on the four introduction but then kind of went of at a tangent by introducing waves of squelchy acid squiggles. More plaid-tronics were added as the track progressed. Hope this was of some interest to the statesiders and the geezers that missed the session in the UK.
