As far I can remember Tales of Ephedrina is basically comparable to all the other FSOL albums. It was released, inbetween Lifeforms and ISDN on their own EBV label, which is the reason for the differnt name (or that might just be bollocks). There's not much to distinguish it as such but Liquid Insects is probably the most stand out track with a pretty rad bass guitar loop (anyone know where thats from? I sampled it once off of another track but have no idea of its origins) and a sort of Pan Pipe riff from 808 State's Quadrastate Album (or Utd State in the U.S. I believe). Basically if you like the other albums it's worth picking up but, err you're not missing that much by not having it. Depends how bothered you are really - shrug . Hope thats been of some use. Steve P.S. Why waste your time slagging off the Spice Girls? It's just Pop music!

just to clarify....it came out before lifeforms.... although i'm not sure it think it was their second full release after accelerator (probably barring some singles) anyone care to clarify, or have a url for a complete, correct discography? imho- tales of eph is a really good album, standout of it's time, and a classic in my library....i wish they'd release more under that name assuming of course they'd work off of that sound..... aaron.................... This CD is all quality, a combination of 4-on-the-floor and Good Old Ambient Goodness(tm). It is reportedly the 'out-takes' from Lifeforms, but I prefer it by far to any other FSOL-related full-length. I had just subscribed to this list when 'Tales...' was first released, and along with a used copy of 'Bytes', it was one of the first idm-related purchases I ever made. One of the best. Just last night I stuck 'Fat Cat' (the one with the Peter Gabriel sample) on a compilation tape between some We and Gescom.. Where are the new classics? - Brad
