Phoenecia's first and only release so far is the Randa Roomet cd/2x12" on Warp. But the members of Phoenecia, Josh Kay and Romulo Del Castillo, have also released material under several other guises such as Soul Oddity on Astralwerks and Jeswa/Metic/Takashi on Schematic. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Phonecia has at least released one odd track here or there. I do not know if this track is on the latest release. I still do not have it. The one track I am talking about is Robo. This track can be found on, From Beyond Volume 2 limited edition vinyl ep. Other artists on it are sluts N strings, Flexitone and 4E. The best way to describe the phonecia track is electro weirdness. Great track and a great ep. -dan

These questions have probably been asked a billion times before, but since I've just recently started downloading MP3s (since I now have a MD recorder to plunk them onto for portable enjoyment) I haven't been paying attention. Sorry. Anyway... 1) Does anyone know the artist-to-track relationship for the MASK200 tracks that are up on the Bleep Bloop server? 2) The Plaid - Mbuki Mvuki directory seems to ne missing a file for a track called "Anything" (according to the track listing included there in a text file). Anyone know why it ain't there, or where it may be found? 3) In the Phonecia directory - "Jam On It"???? Is this a remix/cover of the classic electro track? I suppose I should just download it and listen. Hot damn! Oh, and not a Bleep Bloop question - Da Damn Phreak Noize Phunk is Hardfloor in disguise, right? When did this "Electric Crate Digger" disc come out? I snagged a copy out of the chuck pile in the office of a mag I write for, and it's pretty funky. I like. Greg

Greg: re: Phoenecia (this is the correct spelling on the left :)): I don't think so. I've got a promo of the forthcoming Phoenecia coming out on Schematic. It's a two tracker called Odd Job 12", but that's all the info I have. Supposed to come out in June, though I'm not sure if that's confirmed. It's apparently two of their tracks remixed by Soul Oddity. The track from the bside is up in one of the recent In The Mix shows on my Cognition site if you'd like to compare/check it out. It goes "rhythm box/me and my rhythm box" if that helps at all; can't remember the vocal/if there is a vocal on the A side cut, but, as far as I remember, there's no resemblance to the Newcleus's Jam On It from 1984, though that may be the title (i don't have any song titles with it, it's a test press). There will also be a follow up vinyl and a CD called "Odd Jobs" (adding an "s") with remixes from Autechre, Richard Devine, Ectomorph, Push Button Objects, and Takeshi Muto. Speaking of Autechre, they do a remix of Squarepusher's Two Bass Hit (forthcoming on July 19's Maximum Priest EP) that uses a four on the floor kick. Quite interesting on first listen. Hope this helps. Andrew Duke :) Greg Clow wrote:

Other folks mixing Phoenecia tracks. Although Soul Oddity (who do two of the mixes) are Phoenecia under a different name.
