actually ALL autechre 12"s released after the garbage ep are "supposed" to be played at 45, that's the reason all the singles come in two parts on vinyl, because at 45 you can only fit one track on each side. even both cichlisuite 12"s are played on 45. and almost all the Musik Aus Strom 12"s that are singles. usually a easy way to tell is to time the track on 45, if it's about 5 to 7 minutes long or longer then it's probably the right speed, if it ends up being shorter than 4 minutes than it's probably being played to fast (so 33 would be the "right" speed). personally i like listening to the tracks on the speed the artist intended for me to hear the track, but then it's music and it should be whatever makes my ears happy...but it doesn't work that way. -kiya np:lisa germano (underdog remix 10")

i think it's played at 45 for a couple of reasons, for one thing i read some place in a interview sean and rob saying something along the lines of them liking the way the 12"s sound when being played on 45 as opposed to 33 because of the higher sound quality, another reason is that the "snare" sounds used in the two tracks sound more "correct" at 45, at 33 the tracks sound like they're being played at slow motion because the beats sound like they're dragging along (or something to that effect), and the last reason being, they sound better at 45. -kiya np:argonort-mingus ep (dot) get this just for the first track, can we say middle eastern breakbeat w/ a hint of that 007 stuff... these people know there pads and such<<<
