Yes, mainly with Autechre's releases! They almost always sounds 'better' at 45rpm, but are 'supposed' to be played at 33rpm. Please someone tell me the correct speeds for Cichlisuite 12"s 1 and 2 and Envane (Laughing Quarter 12")!!! And the Higher Intelligence Agency Reform EP! Designers Republic have an aversion to putting them on the discs (probably to do with the Autechre's style - not imposing speeds on the listener, machine noise, randomness, 'mechanically reconstructed' and all that').

33rpm at -8? Didn't sound that good to me, but like you say it's *your* ears that like it! I prefer it pitched up to +8 at 45rpm and mixed with Gang Related/Mask's 'Ready Or Not'... Generally, I don't like many records at the wrong speed, don't know why. The only one that does it for me is the last track on Squarepusher Plays... (Deep Fried Pizza, I think) at 33rpm. That funky bass slowed down a bit and the drums pitched down give it a lazier funk feel which I like much better than the original. Nice!! Gb. PS. Handy Tip: Most crap records sound better on 45rpm because they end quicker that way... -- £ "LWTCDi" Advent Madness - A New Feature Every Day... http://www.homeusers.prestel.co.uk/lwtcdi/all/ £ "VIRTUAL JUKEBOX" Still online.
