don't have a full track listing yet, but the full title is "Trash: industrialsamplcoregrouchbeat." basically it's another spymania meets mosquito/begg-ish stuff, ala the recent noodles comp. And if its anything like _death of cool_ (noodles pt1) it should be grrrrrrrrrreat!! here's some of the artists that are [rumored] to be involved: Christian Vogel Jamie Lidell Si Begg Martin Wood Hardy Finn (the later two are the alternate halves of wafta... not sure under which monikers they'll be, but i'd assume their most commonly/recently used, ie: mw=value ape, hf=b. pseudonym) plus i'm sure a few more from the spymosquito crews'll show up. it's compiled by Matt Consume of No Future fame it was supposed to come out about two weeks ago, but i've yet to see it... anyone have any leads on where i can grab this one??? multsanta//

Got it in the mail today from bent crayon, so it must've been out a few days before that. Try www.bentcrayon.com and see if he has any copies. Hope this helps. cya brian

speaking of saving money, $13.99 will be the norm for EFA (Caroline) distributed products in the U.S. hence $13.99 for the new Porter Ricks, new Vulva, all Chain Reaction CD's, etc.... so don't pay the $16.99-$21.99 prices from these speciality on-line shops, when you can get em cheaper at the generic shops!

Yeah, *if* the generic shops do indeed get them. I don't think these CDs will be *that* widespread. Don't think I'll see the Chain Reaction CDs popping up at Best Buy or Tower anytime soon (not that I buy anything from them, but Best Buy has some great deals on blank tapes :-)). I wouldn't be surprised at all... my local Best Buy carries a crapload of techno / electronic stuff, some of it surprising... as long as its distributed by who they purchase through (?) they seem to have it... sure, it sits on the shelf seemingly forever =) Unfortunately, it seems (at least my local one) they have raised the 'standard' prices there though... about a year, even 6 months ago, they carried all domestic cds for $11.99 - $12.99... hadn't been in for a *long* time, but recently went in because I remembered they had carried the metalheadz comp i was looking for... *everything* domestic that wasn't new, cutout or fairly old was $14.99 or up... was cheaper to actually mailorder some stuff i might have once bought there... i don't know about anyone else but price shopping isn't the first and foremost issue for me when buying music. i resigned long ago to pay import prices for the music i love so much. On occassion a few of the releases get a domestic release but i, for one, don't have the patience to wait several months for the domestic labels to get their shit together and release the records. so i have no problem paying an extra $6 here and there to get the music early. hell, if i waited for a domestic release for every release i buy i wouldn't have 95% of the music i own. in general, i've never had a problem with the pricing of on-line shops. It sounds like PUCKERED1 must have some other personal issues with on-line shops that may be the real reasons of his ranting. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Not that this really has any bearing on *anything*, but i actually would rather pay a few extra $ (if it was actually necessary) at a place like modernmusic or any of the other excellent mailorders we all love than buy from some huge company like CDNOW (or even Best Buy, as I recently mentioned that I bought stuffs there)... Gots to support those who support our tastes! don't ever see CDNOW mentioning vvm and BoC 7"s like pj (and stu @ mfr at least used to)... and god knows that some of the most informative folks on the list reside @ eazy.net/synaptic-records/ Chris brap@sonic.net http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ blackdog, vvm, whitezone-l, slipdisc C.Gosselin, PO Box 8264, Santa Rosa, CA 95407

Assuming there is a domestic release and assuming that it's readily available.
quoted 2 lines so i have no problem paying an extra $6 here and> so i have no problem paying an extra $6 here and > there to get the music early.
You also have to weigh the shipping/handling/postage cost if you order a small amount of CDs from online shops. If I ordered Trash from CDNow at $10.99, I'd prob'ly have to pay another $4 for s/h/postage. If I bought it locally, I'd prob'ly have to pay about $12-$14 + about 7% tax. I *did* get it from bent crayon and since I order so much at a time, I got it for $17 and s/h/postage came out to about $0.75 for that CD. It all evens out.....

i agree with lance 100% about this. i was much happier to pick up the single disc warp version of come to daddy three weeks earlier for an extra $4 than wait for the sire version to come out. then i saw the sire version the other day and it looked like crap. all of the text was just flat black. no cool silver and greys. i just don't think the US is ever going to get its shit together. like the pending mu-ziq ep. what a load of crap. to my ears the mr angry remix is awful. i don't even like the fact that it's on mealtime. but to have this vote thing just for show? talk about screwing over your customers. wait... one domestic release that i was *really* happy about was FUSE's train tracs ep on TVT/waxtrax! with two more tracks than the warp release, but even with tri repetae, if i had known more about autechre at the time it *originally* came out, i would have bought it then, and the eps seperate. i'd rather have all the artwork. take care, alan! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I think my fiancee would object to the butt buddy name calling. But john c and i do a weekly radio show/webcast called inaudible if that's what you mean. Everyone is welcome to tune in every wednesday from 9-11 pm eastern standard time to hear the latest idm, techno and house. Granted, some of the tunes we play may be imports, therefore too expensive for PUCKERED1 to hear but it is a worthwhile listen nonetheless. If you would like to listen to the show you need to get the audio active plugin and visit the following site every wednesday from 9-11 pm EST. http://www.wcsb.org Hope you can afford to tune it. :) -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

I just have to agree here, and also advice others to think about this. I don't find it morally right to buy from a huge major company like CDNOW just because you earn a couple of $ on a record. I always choose a small, independant company or label driven by idealists, eventhough I might get off with $10 less on a big one. (Big places often also drive totally disgusting work policies. They might not approve the workers to organise in unions, give em really shitty salarys or whatever. Nothing said about CDNOW, but this is not very uncommon, just know that) First of all, a huge firm is able to keep low prices because of the amount of records they're selling. Of course a small place like MFR or MM have to charge a little bit more (although they are keeping their prices really nifty) for the records because they are selling maybe 15 or 50 copies of something instead of 500 or 1000. There is not one single shop or mailorder who sells Spice Girls, Michael Bolton or Robert Miles because of the music. It's not about music. It's about money. All in the name of the mighty P-R-O-F-I-T. The diametric opposite of Modern Music or MFR. Ordering with these shit mailorders because it's $10 cheaper isn't (IMO) right in any way. Eventually it will just make it impossible for places like Modern Music to exist. Support these small ones if you want to be able to get the latest Boards of Canada 7" (or whatever) in the future. CDNOW won't sell it to you as they will soon notice that they're not making any money out of it. (Sorry Aran, just had to...:) Word, Fe. what the f*ck? I'm all for the ' small is beautiful ' economic theory, but your floating on another planet as far as it relates to this topic. How many 12" that interest you does CDNow have? ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: (idm) Industrialsamplecorgouchbeat Author: "Franz Enmark" <frankie@gargamel.com> at AWT_INTERNET_PO Date: 12/14/97 12:21 AM We're getting quite off-topic, but I've just got to add something. 1997-12-12 Chris wrote:
