hi. don't mean to be the slow puppy on this thread, but anyway(s) Extreme here in Melbourne are releasing a 50 disc Merzbow compilation. interesting to note that there are supposed to be collaborations with local artists in the big set. time to start hunting for that loose change.. [flaky]

I second this question, since I recently saw a black covered digipak titled ??? Toyko? (sorry, it was a fleeting glance and I can't remember) here that was stacked amongst the CD singles but was priced in the full-length region. What is this CD - what is its total running time and is it any good? I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre

Probably "Tokyo."

That's a live album.. It's uhh..65 minutes or so. It's noise, played live. If you don't like noise, you won't like it.

I just picked up an art 'zine called Frieze with a 3" CD attached to the cover - There is a Merzbow cut, and 2 others on it. Nice article on the underground noise scene in Japan. They talk about the 20000V Club and some of the people involved with the 'scene'. I can not speak for the 'Tokyo' release, but if it is anything like this mini-CD, it is the next step in the evolution of noise music. Very loud - grating irritating - unnerving - punishing - painful - beauty. Intelligent - yes Dance - no - (well, YMMV) Music - ? I'm looking forward to mixing it into a set one day. Hi - Irene - hows your spring ? ;)

Hmmmm ... this is obviously a joke? If you had the album, which is a collab. with John Watermann called "Brisbane - Tokyo Interlace" (Cold Spring 1995), in order to know that it's ~ 65 minutes long, I would think you would know the title. -Patrick

Interesting ... I bought this 3" a while ago for about $6, but it never came with a mag. I've seen it at various stores being sold by itself ... Would be nice to see the mag, although I've got (among other things) both issues of Ongaku Otaku to overload me with info on the state of noise in Japan. ;-) BTW, the other two tracks are great as well ... a nice outtake from Masonna's "Ejaculation Generater" (sic) and yet another live track from Otomo & Eye's famous Disobay gig in '95. -Patrick
