Mouse On Mars and Stereolab did the collaborative encore thing on both
Chicago nights, apparently, so I think it is a regular part of this
tour. I saw the second night in Chicago, which was really great... but
what was even better, and nobody has mentioned it, was the in-store
performance MOM gave earlier that evening at Reckless Records. It was
very casual and energetic, so they were doing their cute
smiling-at-each-other thing even more. It was also easier to see what
they were doing with all their knob-twiddling. I didn't recognize what
they played, so it might have been more improvy than the songs they did
at the Metro that night, or it could have been new stuff. I was
extremely impressed. I saw one boy taping it (with their permission),
but I was too shy to even try to ask him for a copy afterwards.
